Groestlcoin 6th Anniversary Release

Introduction

Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything.
The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years.
In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.

UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2

This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables.
NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.

ALL NEW - Groestlcoin Moonshine iOS/Android Wallet

Built with React Native, Moonshine utilizes Electrum-GRS's JSON-RPC methods to interact with the Groestlcoin network.
GRS Moonshine's intended use is as a hot wallet. Meaning, your keys are only as safe as the device you install this wallet on. As with any hot wallet, please ensure that you keep only a small, responsible amount of Groestlcoin on it at any given time.

ALL NEW! – HODL GRS Android Wallet

HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled.
HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.

ALL NEW! – GroestlcoinSeed Savior

Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases.
This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats.
To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.

ALL NEW! – Vanity Search Vanity Address Generator

NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator.
VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline.
If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address.
VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase.
VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).

If you're tired of the random, cryptic bech32 addresses generated by regular Groestlcoin clients, then Groestlcoin EasyVanity2020 is the right choice for you to create a more personalised bech32 address. This 2020 version uses the new VanitySearch to generate not only legacy addresses (F prefix) but also Bech32 addresses (grs1 prefix).

ALL NEW! – Electrum Personal Server

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node.
It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node.
Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine.
Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in.
Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet.
Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.

Groestlcoin Sentinel is a great solution for anyone who wants the convenience and utility of a hot wallet for receiving payments directly into their cold storage (or hardware wallets).
Sentinel accepts XPUB's, YPUB'S, ZPUB's and individual Groestlcoin address. Once added you will be able to view balances, view transactions, and (in the case of XPUB's, YPUB's and ZPUB's) deterministically generate addresses for that wallet.

[For Hire] Crypto-Currency / Blockchain Developer -- Experienced and Professional

Just finished developing out a larger wallet platform, so thought I would throw this out there. Briefly, 38 year old Canadian, 19 years high paced and professional experience within online software, with 8 of those years being bitcoin / crypto-currency. I'm the type who knows the protocol inside out, key generation and management, the cryptography to generate addresses and sign txs, BIP32, multi-sig, the message protocol to communicate directly with nodes on the P2P network, etc.
Well versed with online security, and excellent at non-custodial wallet systems where every user gets their own BIP32 wallet and funds are user segregated. Have done dozens of these operations, everything including traditional exchange, P2P exchange ala Localbitcoins, multi-vendor marketplace, merchant payment gateway, secure web wallets, coin mixers, lottery site, block explorer, jobs board, eCommerce, and the list goes on. Can do anything in your imagination.
You can view details of a base system at: https://envrin.com/secure_wallet
Demo admin panel at: https://demo.envrin.com/admin/
For a better idea of who I am and my skillset, I created Apex at: https://apexpl.io/
And if you want an idea of how in-depth I go into the protocol, I wrote an article at: https://apexpl.github.io/bitcoin_cash_sv_abc_transaction_signatures.html
Speaking of that, can now offer full support for the Bitcoin Cash / SV / ABC protocols, plus any Bitcoin deratives. Don't have ETH just yet, but that can be easily added in if your operation requires it.
If you have the desire to jump into the crypto-currency / blockchain game, and need a comprehensive, secure and scalable solution for your operation, I'm your guy. More than happy to provide you with consultation, and answer any questions you have. Rate is $50/hour, and you may contact me any time via PM here, or e-mail at [email protected].
Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you, and getting you setup with a quality crypto-currency operation.

[Article] Bitcoin Private: the revolution of privacy coins?

Have you ever heard about Bitcoin Private (BTCP)?
Bitcoin Private (BTCP) is a cryptocurrency originated from the hard fork of two cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) and Zclassic (ZCL), occurred on 28th February at blocks 511346 for BTC and 272991 for ZCL, which was released to the public (main-net launch) on 03/03/2018.
The main advantages in this coin compared to Bitcoin are: best privacy protocol (zK-SNARKs), community driven, lower block time and higher block sizes which results on 8x faster transactions, very low fees, SegWit and Lightning Network ready, PoW algorithm which promotes a decentralized coin ecosystem and difficulty adjustment on every block to control inflation of the coin.
For laymen, a very brief way of explaining the potential of Bitcoin Private is that it uses Bitcoin's own technology, but with shielded (private) and faster transactions, very lower fees and have much more resources!! We can say that Bitcoin Private is like Bitcoin, but much better ..!
Community driven and Ambassador’s Program
A great difference that Bitcoin Private has compared to any other privacy coins is that it is a community driven project, so everybody can be part of the community and help on the project.
There already are more than 50,000 members on their social communities being part of the project and supporting the coin.
If you want to be a member of the community and support the project you just need to join on their channels on Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Medium, Discord, Github or Reddit. You can choose the ones you prefer to use to be a part of.
They also have a program called “Ambassador Program”, where anybody who wants to contribute in the project with any type of knowledge can join. If you want to work on Bitcoin Private join the Ambassador’s Program here and start working and helping on the project!
John McAfee supports Bitcoin Private
After a votation made by John McAfee on his Twitter where there were over 21,000 votes, 70% of the people have chosen him to lead a Privacy Movement to promote privacy within the crypto field all around the world. John has already created the Declaration of Currency Independence where anybody can sign and be support the movement for a fairer financial world.
The BTCP community is very proud and happy to have John McAfee as its newest member. He has been assigned as father of privacy moment and a big representant of Bitcoin Private, as the community believe he is going to be the speaker about Bitcoin Private and promote the big privacy coins.
Hard working developers and modern resources
After only 3 months after main-net launch the strong development team has built much more than everybody thought! Bitcoin Private already have Ledger and Trezor hard wallets support, SegWit coin claiming, marchant plataform where you can integrate Bitcoin Private payments on your business easily (Bitcoin Private Pay) and transactions via SMS where you don’t need internet to transfer your coins to anybody (Cointigo).
For your surprise this is just the beginning, now the development team are focused on rebase BTCP code base and implementing BIP32, full SegWit and Lightning Network support.
Bitcoin Private short term predictions
After many conquers and happy news in the last week, the latest predictions for Bitcoin Private prices have changed. Specialists believes that the coin may reach $200 worth until the end of July.
In my opinion, this is very possible and not hard to happen, in view of this coin have much value and is only on its beginning, but it’s undervalued because of lack of big exchanges and excessive FUD from people who want the project to falls or from other competitor’s coins. So maybe now it the time to full our bags with BTCPs as the coin is worth only $25 today and we can get a possible gain of 800%!! Are you in?

I made an app to charge with bitcoin aimed to merchants (specially Venezuelans)

Hi,
I made an app to charge your clients or friends with Bitcoin. That means, you type the amount you want to charge in fiat, choose a destination wallet, and the app give you a Bitcoin payment link that you can show to your clients with a QR code, copy to the clipboard or share with other apps.
The app does not handle your private keys, so it’s ideal to use with your employees' own devices or with a store shared computer. You add wallets to the app with their public addresses.
Other things that you can do:
Why it is aimed specially to Venezuelans?
The app is aimed to any merchant, but could be interesting for Venezuelans because of the Bolivar / Bitcoin exchange rates. Most apps out there use the official VEF/USD exchange rate and then convert to Bitcoin. That would mean huge loses for the seller, given that the official rate differs in several orders of magnitude from any market-based rate. But my app uses the exchange rates given by Bitcoin Venezuela’s API (https://www.bitcoinvenezuela.com/), a web that estimate the exchange rates from market prices at Local Bitcoins (https://localbitcoins.com/).
The app is localized in English and Spanish (named “Pay me with Bitcoin” and “Págame con Bitcoin” respectively).
Available in…
Google Play and the Microsoft Store (for Windows 10 desktop mobile). I developed the app with Xamarin Forms with iOS in mind, so it should be trivial to port to iOS, but I cannot afford the Apple Store fee and I don’t have access to a Mac at the moment.
Future
If there is any interest in the app, I would like to:
Either support Coinbase Commerce or implement Bip32 myself, so every ticket (charge) that you generate with the app go to a different wallet, derived from a master public key. In this way you client won’t know how much money you make / have, and you would get confirmations for every ticket, avoiding confusions.
The app should also use notifications for when a payment is received.
And of course, iOS.

Groestlcoin ivendPay Integration

ivendPay and Groestlcoin cryptocurrency have announced the start of integration.
IT company ivendPay, the developer of a universal multicurrency payment module for automatic and retail trade, intends to integrate Groestlcoin cryptocurrency — one of the oldest and the most reputable Bitcoin forks into the payment system. Groestlcoin is characterized by instant transactions with almost zero commission and is optimal for mass retail trade where micropayments are mostly used.
According to Sergey Danilov, founder and CEO of ivendPay, Groestlcoin will become the 11th cryptocurrency integrated into the payment module. The first working vending machines for the sale of coffee, snacks and souvenirs, equipped with ivendPay modules, served the visitors of the CryptoEvent RIW exhibition at VDNKh in Moscow and accepted Bitcoin, Go Byte, Dash, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Zcash, Bitcoin Gold, Dogecoin and Emercoin. ivendPay terminals are designed and patented to accept payments in electronic money, cryptocurrencies and cash when connecting the corresponding cash terminal. Payment for the purchase takes a few seconds, the choice of the payment currency occurs at the time of placing the order on the screen, the payment is made by QR-code through the cryptocurrency wallet on the smartphone.
The interest in equipping vending machines with ivendPay terminals has already been shown by the companies of Malaysia and Israel, where first test networks would be installed. ivendPay compiles a waiting list for vending networks interested in buying terminals and searches for an investor to launch industrial production. According to Sergey Danilov, the universal payment terminal ivendPay for the vending machine will cost about $500. The founder of ivendPay has welcomed the appearance of Groestlcoin among integrated cryptocurrencies, as it is another step towards the realization of the basic idea of digital money - free and cross-border access to goods and services for everybody.

Are you in?

OWO, Update

OWO, Update
OWO is an awesome product and it's an example to create less complex blockchain products.
For example, you are able to swap OWO for bitcoin without going through an exchange. OWO treats the bitcoin blockchain as an open API. Using your bip32 address we generate an address in your wallet, then listen to that address for a transaction.
When a transaction comes in, OWO is released to the buyer. No complex side chains or atomic swaps.
OWO is formerly Gamerholic coin, the 1st cryptocurrency created for the world of video games back in 2014.
A rebrand was launched last year, to take the coin out of the gaming realm and make it a coin that can be used for anything.
More importantly, after having Gamerholic coin on bittrex for 2+ years, we decided to make OWO a none-speculators coin, with a firm belief that doing so would allow us to create a better product.
On OWO, users earn, mine or win OWO and businesses buy OWO from users.
Businesses need OWO to create local coupon promotions.

This model creates a perpetual marketplace needless of a 3rd party exchange.
OWO currently has 7 working applications, including Gamerholic an application where you can play heads up games and tournaments for bitcoin or OWO.
Please visit the site, jump in a grabbit game to win free bitcoin and more.
OWO is sha256 POW/POS hybrid with 1.87 coins in circ. 2.5 OWO block rewards every 60 seconds and an unlimited supply. Staking is used to prevent inflation.

A call for anonymity in Bitcoin Wallets

This is a reminder that people should be using new addresses and coinjoin (or some similar anonymity schema) for each transaction.
I've been using GreenAddress.it for a while (BIP32 and 2-of-2 signing with a nlocktime backup transaction to recover my founds), but the Android app is far away from snappy. The usability is good, if you take away the fact that it's very slow, it's very easy to use and you don't have to deal with address generation. I love the idea and the concept behind it, but I feel it's still incomplete. I think it could benefit from a tool to improve anonymity, as many other wallets out there (most of them are way behind GreenAddress, with notable exceptions).
I've been talking about bitcoin with non-programmers, techie-friendly people and gave them some bits so they can play around. Many have purchased more bitcoins and I can know most of their balances because of address reuse.
Heck, I can generate back the tree of transactions done with my "address-reuse-avoiding wallet" using only a web-based blockchain explorer, given the fact that it's obvious that the addresses starting with "3" are mine and the ones starting with "1" are others'.
I think this is a big issue. I'm not talking about "people who have something to hide", it's everybody that is compromised. If bitcoin is to become more ubiquitous, this problem has to be solved from an usability point of view.
I'm eager to try coding a "anonymity check" tool to answer questions like these (even after avoiding address reuse, but before CoinJoin):
Some points where this tool can be smart are: differentiate between big outputs and small outputs (the former are most likely to be the change funds or savings account), address reincidence, extra data like first-known-of node that relayed the transaction, detect coinjoin transactions (they are easily identifiable) etc. I'd love to have my privacy checked by a tool like this, that should work offline. Blockchain.info's "taint analysis tool" is too dumb, online, and heavy to be useful.
For the paranoid ones: a three-letter-agency might already have one already.

VegaWallet "The Complete Crytpocurrency Platform" - Secure Wallet, Exchange, Point of Sale and Mobile-Pay Solution

VegaWallet

Visit https://VegaWallet.com for more information
“VegaWallet aims to be a complete cryptocurrency platform. Our products and services will cover your journey into cryptocurrency every step of the way. We’ll make it easy to buy and trade, give you a safe place to store it, then provide options for spending it the way you want!” - Tarek Hajri CEO of VegaWallet
The Problems Facing Cryptocurrency
Exchange Problems - Services that offer the purchase of cryptocurrency tend to have extended wait times for new member activations, even longer wait times for an exchange, unheard of fees, and numerous security issues. Among these services there is a need for greater security implementation to protect users.
Applications -There are limited ways in which customers can spend their crypto assets in real-world applications. Most cryptocurrencies tend to sit in exchanges waiting to be extracted back to fiat currency once again, which in turn incurs more fees. Until now very little has been done to ensure the average person can take advantage of the opportunity.
VegaWallet’s Solution
The VegaWallet platform provides a complete solution. The project comes in several phases with answers to each problem mapped out along the way.
VegaWallet Platform - Our Wallet, Exchange and VegaPay provide a complete and secure solution to streamline a customer’s crypto journey. No other company offers a solution to identified problems as thorough and all encompassing as VegaWallet does. VegaWallet integrates the latest security technology and focuses on maintaining a clean user interface.
VegaPay and Point of Sale - An advanced payment gateway for paying with crypto anywhere and anytime, even at places or websites that do not yet accept cryptocurrency. This will be further supported by a Point of Sale Systems which will allow every business from small mom and pop shops to huge internet retailers to incorporate the use of cryptocurrency without any significant fees. Customers of these shops will even be able to buy cryptocurrency at check-out with traditional payment methods.
VGW Token (Based on ERC-20) - Our native VegaWallet Token allows for lower fees and faster transfer times. This technology combined with our advanced platform will allow effortless movement of cryptocurrency for customers to maximize opportunities and profit. The VGW token will also be the backbone of our Loyalty and Rewards Program and Point of Sale System.
PHASE ONE: THE VEGAWALLET EXCHANGE AND WALLET
"We all know good design makes good business. Our team actively listened to the cryptocurrency community during production and the result is stunning. We can guarantee you’ll love it. I know I do!” - Jacob Ballou Co-Founder
Main Focus of the VegaWallet Exchange
Full Integration with VegaWallet API’s and our VegaWallet Token for easy transfers
Fast and reliable exchange using formulas to ensure prices are updated by the second.
Purchase of Cryptocurrency with a credit card or bank transfer in conjunction with VegaWallet (Will require KYC verification to ensure all anti-terrorism and money laundering guidelines are followed.)
Security is the key to the project, new security features will be introduced in phases.
Advanced options for market and limit orders with historical price tracking.
The VegaWallet exchange will continue to introduce more coin pairings each business quarter to increase total exchange liquidity.
VegaWallet Digital Asset Wallet
Our platform allows our users to hold, send, and receive digital assets securely. Clients remain in complete control of their assets knowing they are protected. Our software and integrated API’s provide our clients’ options to manage private keys safely and set various procedures to help remove points of failure. Different from traditional banks or other digital asset wallets we do not hold custody of user funds, meaning users have full control over their accounts at all time.
VegaWallet’s Advanced Security Features
Multi Signature P2SH -(P2SH) Otherwise known as pay--to--script--hash addresses require multiple private keys to transact. This technology is popularly referred to as “Multi-Signature Implementation.” This process eliminates single points of failure by ensuring all keys are stored on separate devices. If a malicious attack were to affect one point of entry the other point of entry would still be needed to gain access. The easiest way to understand P2SH is to compare it to a safe that requires two keys with a third key
HD (BIP32) Financial Privacy - BIP-32 is a Bitcoin Protocol where multiple addresses for Bitcoin are derived from a single source seed. Also referred to as an HD wallet (hierarchical deterministic). Our BitGo partnership allows for BIP-32 enhanced security and integration. This process implements a regular rotation of your public key. The rotation of public keys makes it very difficult for people to follow your transaction history on the public blockchain making it essentially impossible to target your wallet and information.
Biometric Authentication (In Phase 2 Update) -New generation smartphones use several forms of biometrics as substitutes to traditional pin passwords. These same authenticators will be used in an update to VegaWallet. Biometric technology will allow users to verify log-in or outgoing transactions by using fingerprint or iris scanning.
Google 2FA & SMS Authentication - Google Authenticator 2FA is a software token that implements two-step verification by using a time-sensitive One-time Password (OTP) and HMAC-based OTP Algorithm. These processes help to authenticate users of mobile applications by Google.
PHASE TWO: The VegaWallet Point of sale and VegaPay
POINT OF SALE SYSTEM
The Business Edition of VegaWallet in Phase Two of our project will receive an update allowing it to become a Point of Sale (POS) System. The POS System will be controlled and editable through the company dashboard. This will allow companies to use our wallet to accept cryptocurrency, cash and credit in real time for retail and service purposes. Customers of companies using our platform will also be able to purchase cryptocurrency through their point of sale system using traditional payment methods such as cash or credit card. This process will be as easy to complete as purchasing a gift card currently is. Customers wishing to do so must have a KYC verified VegaWallet account.
Our platform will serve as a branch for society to integrate cryptocurrency by remaining usable in everyday situations. This would be accomplished by allowing you to instantly pay your bills or buy your cup of coffee with your stored funds. It will also work internationally for individuals and companies to transfer funds instantly without the need for banks or prolonged wait times. This technology will bring financial stability and banking to places where traditional institutions do not reach. VegaWallet’s platforms will help to connect the globe in a secure and timely manner.
VegaWallet Rewards and loyalty program
VegaWallet’s Point of Sale will be offering a rewards system based on the VGW token. Retailers will have the option to sign-up in account settings to provide this program. With each purchase made through our system, they will have the ability to send VGW tokens instead of using a traditional rewards platform.
Loyalty and rewards programs help to retain customers and provide an essential marketing tool in today’s world. However, most of these programs can cost thousands of dollars to implement making them out of reach for most small retailers.
Vegapay - Mobile Payment Solution
VegaWallet aims to implement the use of cryptocurrency on a large scale with the creation of our new platform while also integrating the use into existingtechnology. Most cryptocurrency and blockchain companies in today’s world are focusing on creating cryptocurrency backed credit and debit cards. The use of a card is not needed when transactions take place in the most modern point of sale systems with “Mobile Pay” applications.
VegaWallet will introduce “VegaPay” at the end of phase two development. VegaPay, when activated, will verify the transaction and immediately use the VegaWallet exchange to trade the correct amount of cryptocurrency in your wallet account to fiat to pay at any locations that do not yet accept cryptocurrency. The funds will then be sent to the terminal using Near Field Communication (NFC) integration.
For use in lack of physical presence of the payment terminal, VegaPay will create a one-time use credit card number for entrance through the phone or online. This unique number can be treated as a gift card and will be backed by all security protocols offered for the entirety of our platform. VegaPay will use the one-time code instead of providing a permanent number for increasing account security and reducing fraud or hacking attempts related to VegaWallet services.

Help with BitcoinJS-lib

Hello, i'm learning about bitcoin, and bitcoinjs-lib (https://github.com/bitcoinjs/bitcoinjs-lib)
I created a dummy wallet on coinomi using this mnemonic ('eight better wealth display father cave suffer game sign health fit exchange noble tunnel poet remember owner letter submit illness cage calm dry noble')
and i'm trying to generate a Deterministic wallet with it.
Here is my code
const bip39 = require('bip39')
const bip32 = require('bip32')
const bitcoin = require('bitcoinjs-lib')
const network = bitcoin.networks.bitcoin;
function getAddress (node) {
return bitcoin.payments.p2pkh({ pubkey: node.publicKey, network }).address
}
const mnemonic = 'eight better wealth display father cave suffer game sign health fit exchange noble tunnel poet remember owner letter submit illness cage calm dry noble'
console.log('Testing mnemonic: ',bip39.validateMnemonic(mnemonic))
const seed = bip39.mnemonicToSeed(mnemonic)
const root = bip32.fromSeed(seed)
console.log("m/0'/0/1 ->",getAddress(root.derivePath("m/0'/0/1")));
console.log("m/0'/0/2 ->",getAddress(root.derivePath("m/0'/0/2")));
.
and this is the output that i got
.
Testing mnemonic: true
m/0'/0/1 -> 17tdSW83Vjw23TdQsmZDtBAupan9WiGGd5
m/0'/0/2 -> 17bYSjEXwZxMgVkRRt9pJgDgExiX8Xht3b
Then I go to (https://www.coinomi.com/recovery-phrase-tool.html) to test if my results are correct, and it isn't, could someone help me with this please. How to fix the code?

Time for another *cough-semi-cough* weekly Mycelium feature demo, as well as update on what's going on behind the scenes!

Setting up a Watch-Only address in Mycelium:
First, make sure that you have enabled Expert Mode in Mycelium by going to Settings in the drop-down menu from the main screen, scrolling down to ADVANCED SETTINGS, and turning on the check box next to "Expert Mode."
This will enable key management in the section to the left of the main screen. To get to it, swipe left-to-right. You can set up a watch-only address in one of two ways.
If the address is not in your wallet yet:
After swiping to the KEYS section of the wallet, find and click the Add Key icon at the top right of the screen.
If you have a paper wallet, hit "Scan" and scan only the public key. Or if you can copy/paste the key from your phone, select Clipboard to import it. This will import only the public key, creating a watch-only address. You can tell which addresses in your wallet have private (spendable) keys and which do not by the key icon next to the address. As you can see, the key imported in this example does not have that icon, and thus no bitcoins can be spent from it.
Whether you have Aggregated View enabled or not (more on that next time), simply highlighting the address in the list selects it as the default address, allowing you to receive payments to it (note the "Send" button is now missing).
If you already have a bitcoin address in your wallet, and want to make it a Watch-Only address:
(MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF THE PRIVATE KEY SOMEWHERE BEFORE PROCEEDING)
In the list of keys, find the address you wish to make Watch-Only, and highlight it. The bar at the top will change to blue, adding options such as Label and Archive. This also changes the functionality of the dropdown menu (the three vertical dots). Click the dropdown menu, and select Delete
In the menu that pops up, asking if you wish to delete the private key, turn on the checkbox for "Keep as read-only..."
Once you click Yes, and confirm, the address's private key will be deleted, and you will be left with only a watch-only address, which you can select as the default receiving address in the same way as in instructions above.
This option allows you to add addresses you wish to keep an eye on to keep track of balances, carry secure addresses to receive payments on that you don't want to get stolen, or even do things like allowing waiters and sales staff to accept payments from customers on multiple devices, without worrying about any of them having direct access to the received funds (yes, we're discussing about future POS options too).
Now, for the "Things We're Working On Now" updates:
  • The next release will include pricing sources from Bitstamp, BTC-E, Kraken, BTC China, Coinbase, and Bitpay. These have been added to the beta version, and are undergoing testing. Note, MtGox is now gone (apologies to those who will miss it). For now, we believe having it there will only confuse newbies.
  • Message signing has been added and is undergoing testing as well.
  • We've added Hebrew, French, and Korean translations.
  • Finally, exchange rates will be MUCH faster at showing up and refreshing, thanks to an upgrade to our servers on the back end.
Progress on Local Trader is also progressing nicely, with Jan and Andreas working diligently on it, and we still expect to have the beta version out some time within a week. HD
Wallets (BIP32) is another major feature that has been heavily requested (not just in Mycelium), and last week Jan and Andreas spent most of one of the Berlin Conference days discussing how to implement and standardize it with the head developers of other major wallets. So, there is definite progress on this, though the most we can promise at this point is that it will be implemented "at some time." Hopefully soon.
As usual, if you want to see any features added, or have any concerns or questions, please let us know!

everiToken launched MainNet on 31st July 2018

everiToken launched MainNet on 31st July 2018
July 31,2018

Introduction

everiToken public blockchain aims to become the infrastructure of token economy. From small tickets to large buildings, assets can be easily issued via token in our chain. It’s world’s first token-customized public chain for token economy. Following content will enable you to understand our new techniques, products and ecosystem for launching MainNet.
We have implemented the core functions of NFTs(Non Fungible Tokens) during the TestNet, which is the first step towards Token Economy. Now we have greatly enriched our functions and announced that our MainNet is online.
Technical details can be found in our whitepaper.

EVT 1.0 Release

EVT 1.0 is the first release version of everiToken blockchain. Main changes from Aurora 4.1
u Refactor token database: Improves performance and other bug fixes.
u Fix some issues when syncing multiple nodes.
u Other bug fixes and improvements.
For the full list of features indluded in this release, please check the our official website. Docker: docker pull everitoken/evt:1.0

Token Based

Support both Fungible and NonFungible Tokens

Now everiToken supports both Fungible Tokens and NonFungible Tokens. Tokens are different from digital currencies issued by central banks and encrypted currencies (like bitcoin or ETH). We define a Token as a proof that you have an exclusive share of the economy in an asset, a period of time, or a particular place, or a time service provided by a particular entity. Tokens are divided into two types: Fungible Tokens and Non-Fungible Tokens. Everyone can easily Issue their own Tokens and these tokens can be transferred and managed on everiToken conveniently.

Authorization Tree: support hierarchical multi signatures

The everiToken system contains three kinds of permissions in authorization management: Issue, Transfer and Manage. Each specific authorization follows a tree structure and is therefore called Authorization Tree. As the root, each permission has a threshold, and it is connected to one or more actors.
With the authorization tree, everiToken provides a flexible authorization management and naturally supports hierarchical multi signatures which can solve a variety of practical problems.

EVT supports BIP44 standard

BIP(Bitcoin Improvement Proposal) is the suggestion for improvement in bitcoin. Among them the BIP32, BIP39 and BIP44 co-defined the widely used HD wallet. EVT has been audited by the BIP44 standard with an international token number 207, any wallet can use “207” to represent EVT. The wallet can automatically obtain a private key of everiToken without producing a new mnemonics code. ETH and EOS both have the BIP44 number, among them ETH and ETC is 60 and 61, EOS is 194.

Payment mechanism

Support Payer mechanism

A Payer is an account who pays for a transaction. everiToken allows users specify payers in a transaction. This is useful for creating accounts. For safety, payers should have extra signatures in the transaction.
If the Payer is set, fees for the user will be zero.

New Pinned EVT(PEVT) mechanism

A Pinned EVT is similar to EVT but cannot be transferred. It can only be used as fuel fee.
Converting from EVT to Pinned EVT is allowed. The EVT’s exchange rate against pinned EVT is always 1. Since pinned EVT is not currency, it is safe enough to airdrop pinned EVT to someone.
Generally users should not convert EVT to pinned EVT, as they are able to use EVT to charge fuel fee.
If one decide to convert EVT to pinned EVT, the pinned EVT will automatically bind to the receiver. That’s why it is called Pinned EVT.

More functions

Support Suspended Transactions

We have added delay transaction support(In-chain suspend-siging transaction) from Aurora 2.1.
Based on this, we allow users to issue half transaction requests according to specific indicators to complete some functions similar to exchanges.

Support Metadata

everiToken allows users add metadata to their related tokens, also domains and groups. Once added, no one can modify or delete the metadata on the chain. The metadata can provide a lot of informations which is useful in many situations.

Support the Dapps on chain to Issue their Tokens

everiToken will help Dapps on chain to issue their tokens. Such as get their accounts into a whitelist. Although everyone can issue their own tokens, not everyone has high credibility. In everiToken’s whitelist means you are more credible and everyToken can endorse them.

Creation

Develop a Safe Contract layer

Smart contracts are, in theory, effective digital means of facilitating decentralized exchanges of goods or services without the need of a middleman. However, in practice, smart contracts suffer from widespread security vulnerabilities that arise from improper implementation and logical errors, giving rise to consequences such as lock-outs, leaked access, and improper termination. As such, smart contracts often fail to provide trust and may be viewed as less reliable than traditional contracts or exchange.
everiToken uses the Safe Contract layer to replace the smart contract. Rather than code directly, users rely on SafeContracts to facilitate processes such as the issuance and transfer of tokens. By simplifying functions to the core requirements, SafeContracts ensure that all chain transactions are secure and without loopholes, as the available API functions are fully reviewed and verified. Even though SafeContracts are not Turing complete, they can still achieve the majority of necessary functions via API’s, and provide flexibility to token-issuers for the completion of off-chain services.
Furthermore, SafeContracts have the added benefits of increasing accessibility and TPS. With the former, the inclusion of API’s makes it simple for easy integration into existing workflows without writing chain-integration code from scratch. With the latter, the usage of API’s allows for various translations types to be distinguished easily, and independent token transactions can be processed in parallel at faster speeds. This is the main reason for everiToken’s High TPS, High Security and High Standardization.

Create everiPass/everiPay protocol: the world’s first QR code protocol based on blockchain

everiPass/everiPay is a payment born for face-to-face micropayments using everiToken public block chain.
everiPass/everiPay includes the standard of QR code generation and the definition of communication protocol. Based on everiToken public blockchain with five characteristics:
Instant Clearance, A transaction is a settlement.
Decentralization, P2P payment, no centralized platform, no one can modify the data on chain, everyone can participate in pricing.
Most secure, The data and content in the block chain can not be forged or tampered with, so as to maximize the protection of user's property security.
Compatible, everiPass/everiPay support all Tokens supported by everiToken, not only currency but also tokens and points, even a key to open a door, and you can use it almost in everywhere, just with your phone.
Most convenient, Even if you can’t connect to the Internet, you can complete the transaction.
the everiToken TestNet has reached 5000 TPS, Considering the situation of equipment and network, we think that a transaction can be completed within five seconds.
Based on the above five characteristics, everiPass/everiPay can provide the most secure, most convenient and enjoyable services in face-to-face payments.
Within everiPass/everiPay you can send and receive tokens, pay in stores, pay for tickets, pass a door, and much more things you can think.

Here what I did to get my Bitcoin Gold out of Bread

So if you are like me then you've had a look around the internet for a week or so now to find a guide on how to get your Bitcoin Gold [BTG] out from your Bread-wallet in some smart and secure way.
I could not find one, and so I wrote down how I managed to get my BTG from Bread, but I am not very smart and secure so naturally neither is this method.
I am really not knowledgeable with this so there are bound to be some smarter tricks here and there on this. Read the comments for those.
I take no responsibility for anything wrong that might happen here. I don't know, or trust, any of the tools or users I reference in this process, and I was worried I might lose everything at every step during this process. May God help us all. By using this guide you can conclude upfront that you might possibly lose everything.
I also believe Bitcoin Gold to be the work of potential scammers, or at least there seems to be some scammers involved in the ecosystem, so be careful. People will buy your BTG for some reason, so better to sell it now than wait for it become nothing. But be careful. Don't put your faith in people like me for this.
Anyway, here is what I did:

Getting your private keys:

  1. Send your BTC from Bread to another wallet, because after this you can consider your private keys to have become public.
  2. Go to Mnemonic Code Converter.
  3. Write in your 12 word mnemonic code into the text box next to where it says "BIP39 Mnemonic". It is the 12 words you wrote down when you set up your Bread wallet.
  4. Select "Bitcoin Gold" in "Coin".
  5. Under "Derivation Path" you click on the "BIP32" tab.
  6. In "BIP32 Derivation Path" you write: m/0'/0
  7. Save the private keys in "Derived Addresses" somewhere.
  8. Go back to step 5 and write: m/0'/1
  9. Save the private keys in "Derived Addresses" somewhere.
Notes:
Step 1: Not a requirement for all of this to work, but a good idea from my point of view. Ian Coleman might have your private keys now. Or someone else. I don't, so don't ask me where they went though.
Step 2: You could download an offline version of Ian Colemans tool if you think it'll protect your privacy and coins somewhat.
Step 6 and 8: m/0'/0 generates the addresses of your sent bitcoins, while the m/0'/1 generates your change-addresses. They both have coins perhaps.

Importing BTG to wallet:

You now have the list of private keys. You'll need to post these into your BTG-wallet. I used Coinomi.
Here is what I did then:
  1. Download Coinomi on your Android phone or on an Android emulator such as Bluestacks.
  2. Set Coinomi up with a BTG wallet.
  3. In Coinomi you click on your BTG-wallet and then click the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Sweep wallet".
  4. Paste each of the private keys, individually, into the text box, and click next".
Some of those keys will generate you some BTG into your wallet. Stop when you have the expected amount of BTG.
I sent them all to an exchange and exchanged them for BTC.

Ninki Wallet
Hi, been working on this like madmen for the last few months. Looking for people to help out with an Alpha test. The wallet currently runs on a private TestNet, sign up and in "Add a Contact" put in ninki and hit "Add Contact" I'll send you some coin
Some basic specs: Secure - Multi-sig 2 of 3 wallet, the user has 2 keys, we have 1. We do not know your private keys (or even your public keys), all data is encrypted with your password.
Private - BIP32- addresses are never reused, communication between contacts uses RSA public/private key encryption
Social- BIP32 Social, add contacts and automatically assign them to a BIP32 node. You never need to see a Bitcoin address again to send them coin, and they never need to ask you for an address to send! Master public key exchange is done via RSA public/private key encryption with an optional out of band validation code available.
Transfer Limits- You can setup transfer limits which we control via our part of the multi-sig addresses. You need to setup 2FA to change these limits. They currently default to: Daily Transaction Limit: 0.1 Single Transaction Limit: 1 Number Of Transactions Per Day: 10 Number Of Transactions Per Hour: 4 The philosophy behind the wallet is bringing these advanced features of the Bitcoin protocol to a well designed and usable site.
I'm sure there will be lots of questions and I am here to answer!
Would really appreciate any bug reports / opinions on what needs to be improved / features to add.

Blackmail and hostage taking for BIP32 passwords

I have been thinking recently how it could well be a big danger for cold storage holders whose backup keys are stored at home or with family members. If someone were to discover that that a home held a vast amount of bitcoins, what is to stop a group of guys holding family members at gunpoint in exchange for Bip32 passwords.
I know for a fact that if someone called me and said they were going to kill my parents unless I handed over the password, I would of course give it up in the blink of an eye. Given the semi-untraceable nature of bitcoin, it would be very easy to get away with. Perhaps its not worth while today, but when we go to the moon we are going to attract a new level of attention
So that leaves only bank vaults being the safe place to store cold storage wallets.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Privacy and security of TREZOR

This exchange between Peter Todd and slush got my attention. http://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/2rz30w/trezor_why_its_absolutely_not_ready_for_mass/
Peter says that BIP32 creates privacy issues. I don't understand, technically, what issues it creates. What worries me more is that slush says:
"Most of users don't know / don't care about privacy, then it makes no difference."
Can someone answer a) what privacy issues are there with TREZOR's current setup; slush acknowledges that there are some and b) if this is still a concern when using TREZOR with Electrum or Multibit.
I'd also disagree with slush...most users here definitely care about privacy.
