This Is Where People Are Buying Bitcoin All Over the World

Last Tuesday, over 300k people were made homeless in the Beirut explosion. Join us in giving directly to reputable organizations.

What happened?

On August 4, 2020, multiple explosions occurred in Beirut's port, destroying half the city and killing hundreds. Even now a large number of people are missing, thousands are injured, and over 300,000 people have lost their homes, including 80,000 children. The explosion was so big that it was heard and felt in in the nations of Cyprus and Syria next door. The devastation of the explosion, equivalent to over 1.2 kilotons of TNT, was so complete that even houses outside of Beirut were damaged. It was one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions in history, and the biggest of the last 50 years.
The explosion destroyed half of the city, including busy hospitals. Doctors in the midst of operating were forced to work by the flashlights of their cell phones. The explosion killed several foreign nationals, including French, German, Canadian, American, and Australian citizens.
This tragedy is personal to the /Showerthoughts team, specifically myself. Being Lebanese and seeing the tragedy first hand is really different than seeing it on TV. People were literally searching through the rubble for their loved ones and pets. There were people with blood all over them just sitting on the ground next to their destroyed homes, silent and in shock. It was all so surreal.
Last time /Showerthoughts came together for a charity drive, the response was inspiring and raised over 10k USD. We hope to once again come together and put the generosity and good spirit of this subreddit towards a very urgent cause.

How to Help

In collaboration with the mods of /Lebanon, the following is a list of charities and NGOs inside Lebanon which we have researched and verified

Other Ways to Help

You can raise awareness about the disaster by sharing videos of it on your social media accounts. Please note that those videos are graphic, as they show the moment the explosion happened.
You can check out some of the videos in this list.
The Beirut Explosion Megathread will have up-to-date information for people within Lebanon and for those who would like to help.
Even if you cannot donate yourself, please share these charities and promote the cause!
Huge thanks to the mods of /Lebanon and especially ThePerito for their contributions in this campaign.

Honeyminer a Honeygain alternative

So a couple days ago i found Honeyminer, it is very simple and comparable to Honeygain. Honeyminer is a cryptocurrency mining tool that cain mine crypto for you. It can use your graphics card or CPU or both. For now you are mining satoshi (every 1000 satoshis is 0,10 USD). You can see your potential profit for 24hr and for the month based on your hash rate.
It is pretty simple and it does not use your network (only to log you in so it can connect to the online dashboard). After you started mining you can still use your computer like normal but if you are mining on your graphics card you might want to turn off Honeyminer so you can get better performance in game. You can convert your satoshi into Bitcoin and send it to a Bitcoin wallet.
If you want you can create a account on Honeyminer and start earning or you can use this link: https://honeyminer.com/referred/5qic3 to get 1000 satoshis (0,10USD) for free after you sign up.
For qeustions you can always ask me in the comments, Honeyminer is pretty new and I am also new to it so I will try to answer any qeustions as good as I can. But I do not know everything about Honeyminer yet.

Help building gaming/work pc for VR/AAA gaming and video editing.

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
My wife and I play VR games with our HTC Vive pretty often and my Gigabyte Aero 15 laptop has been struggling. Although boy does it do a pretty good job for a laptop. I'd love to have a Beat Saber experience with 0 hiccups and be able to run the Witcher 3 on Ultra without any stuttering. I've also got my eye on Squadrons in VR too.
Additionally I'm a video editor by trade and while work provides me with equipment for that, I would love Adobe Creative Cloud to run well on whatever I end up with.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Let's go with 1,200 USD but I can be convinced to invest a little more if it makes a huge difference. Let's call it a comfy starting point. Mostly I'm just looking for the most bang for my buck, not the latest and greatest. If we come up with a $1,000 solution, all the better!
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
For the purposes of moving forward let's say this week. There's really no rush so I can be convinced to wait if sales or new launches (that make current stuff cheaper) are imminent. I'm open to your suggestions.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
I have a keyboard, wireless mouse, battery backup, and a cheap Acer monitor from 2016. But beyond that I own 0 parts of the pc itself and have no extra copies of Windows lying around. You can include a monitor recommendation if there's a spectacular deal/opportunity right now or leave it off.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Southern California, United States. There's apparently a Micro Center an hour south of me, so if it saves on shipping or tax to make that trek and pick all the parts up there, that is an option although a LITTLE inconvenient.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Not necessarily using but own: 2016 Acer monitor (nothing special, has HDMI) Anker wireless mouse, generic noisy keyboard from work.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I'm too inexperienced to know if this is necessary for my needs or not. I want my games to look gorgeous and smooth. I want my setup to be as quiet as possible. I guess in a perfect world I would want the setup to be as simple as possible so maybe "no" to overclocking? You tell me.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
My priorities are good graphics, smooth painless experience, in a quiet unobtrusive machine. I'm not coding, bitcoin mining, storing teraflops of data or hacking the pentagon. I'll set up a simple backup solution on an external harddrive for minimal person files.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I do NOT need flashy. I don't care about LEDs or little screens in the case. I don't need an elaborate watercooled system (unless you tell me that's the only way to have a relatively quiet PC experience). I guess I would choose smaller and more low profile for a case unless that makes things hotter (read: noisier). I'm a minimalism guy if that helps. Function over form. A window is fine but not important. If color makes no difference, white would match the room better than black. But again, low on my priority list.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
I guess I do. I'm used to Windows 10 at this point but I do NOT want any extraneous software installed. No bubblewitch or bloatware if at all avoidable. I'm open to suggestions for antivirus solutions
I know just enough about PCs to get myself in trouble sometimes. I can comb through forums to troubleshoot problems, I can install new drivers and but struggle with knowing how to optimize my pc experience. (ie. Why is my laptop so loud right now? Why are these system apps using 100% of my CPU? WHy does this game run amazing one day and terribly the next?)
I can follow directions pretty well and I know that's really all pc building is. Expensive, sharp, electrified LEGO. I used to do basic repairs on apple computers back in the day so I'm no stranger to static free workspaces and keeping track of tiny screws.
But even with all that, feel free to treat me like an idiot and walk me through this new world slowly. I'm here to learn and ask questions. Thank you in advance for your help, kind internet person!

[ANN][ANDROID MINING][AIRDROP] NewEnglandcoin: Scrypt RandomSpike

New England
New England 6 States Songs: https://www.reddit.com/newengland/comments/er8wxd/new_england_6_states_songs/
NewEnglandcoin
Symbol: NENG
NewEnglandcoin is a clone of Bitcoin using scrypt as a proof-of-work algorithm with enhanced features to protect against 51% attack and decentralize on mining to allow diversified mining rigs across CPUs, GPUs, ASICs and Android phones.
Mining Algorithm: Scrypt with RandomSpike. RandomSpike is 3rd generation of Dynamic Difficulty (DynDiff) algorithm on top of scrypt.
1 minute block targets base difficulty reset: every 1440 blocks subsidy halves in 2.1m blocks (~ 2 to 4 years) 84,000,000,000 total maximum NENG 20000 NENG per block Pre-mine: 1% - reserved for dev fund ICO: None RPCPort: 6376 Port: 6377
NewEnglandcoin has dogecoin like supply at 84 billion maximum NENG. This huge supply insures that NENG is suitable for retail transactions and daily use. The inflation schedule of NengEnglandcoin is actually identical to that of Litecoin. Bitcoin and Litecoin are already proven to be great long term store of value. The Litecoin-like NENG inflation schedule will make NewEnglandcoin ideal for long term investment appreciation as the supply is limited and capped at a fixed number
Bitcoin Fork - Suitable for Home Hobbyists
NewEnglandcoin core wallet continues to maintain version tag of "Satoshi v0.8.7.5" because NewEnglandcoin is very much an exact clone of bitcoin plus some mining feature changes with DynDiff algorithm. NewEnglandcoin is very suitable as lite version of bitcoin for educational purpose on desktop mining, full node running and bitcoin programming using bitcoin-json APIs.
The NewEnglandcoin (NENG) mining algorithm original upgrade ideas were mainly designed for decentralization of mining rigs on scrypt, which is same algo as litecoin/dogecoin. The way it is going now is that NENG is very suitable for bitcoin/litecoin/dogecoin hobbyists who can not , will not spend huge money to run noisy ASIC/GPU mining equipments, but still want to mine NENG at home with quiet simple CPU/GPU or with a cheap ASIC like FutureBit Moonlander 2 USB or Apollo pod on solo mining setup to obtain very decent profitable results. NENG allows bitcoin litecoin hobbyists to experience full node running, solo mining, CPU/GPU/ASIC for a fun experience at home at cheap cost without breaking bank on equipment or electricity.

CPU Minable Coin Because of dynamic difficulty algorithm on top of scrypt, NewEnglandcoin is CPU Minable. Users can easily set up full node for mining at Home PC or Mac using our dedicated cheetah software.
Research on the first forked 50 blocks on v1.2.0 core confirmed that ASIC/GPU miners mined 66% of 50 blocks, CPU miners mined the remaining 34%.
NENG v1.4.0 release enabled CPU mining inside android phones.

Decentralization and Community Driven NewEnglandcoin is a decentralized coin just like bitcoin. There is no boss on NewEnglandcoin. Nobody nor the dev owns NENG.
We know a coin is worth nothing if there is no backing from community. Therefore, we as dev do not intend to make decision on this coin solely by ourselves. It is our expectation that NewEnglandcoin community will make majority of decisions on direction of this coin from now on. We as dev merely view our-self as coin creater and technical support of this coin while providing NENG a permanent home at ShorelineCrypto Exchange.

ASIC/GPU Mining Pools Warning to Big ASIC Miners Due to DynDiff Algo on top of Scrypt, solo mining is recommended for ASIC/GPU miners. Further more, even for mining pools, small mining pool will generate better performance than big NENG mining pool because of new algo v1.2.x post hard fork.
The set up configuration of NENG for scrypt pool mining is same as a typical normal scrypt coin. In other word, DynDiff on Scrypt algo is backward compatible with Scrypt algo. Because ASIC/GPU miners rely on CPU miners for smooth blockchain movement, checkout bottom of "Latest News" section for A WARNING to All ASIC miners before you decide to dump big ASIC hash rate into NENG mining.
(1) Original DynDiff Warning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5027091.msg48324708#msg48324708 (2) New Warning on RandomSpike Spike difficulty (244k) introduced in RandomSpike served as roadblocks to instant mining and provide security against 51% attack risk. However, this spike difficulty like a roadblock that makes big ASIC mining less profitable. In case of spike block to be mined, the spike difficulty immediately serve as base difficulty, which will block GPU/ASIC miners effectively and leave CPU cheetah solo miners dominating mining almost 100% until next base difficulty reset.

7 Tips for 12.6 wipe!

7 Tips for 12.6 wipe! New players or returning vets
Fellow Tarkovians!
TL:DR
  1. Do your quests!!!! Do them efficiently by completing as many as possible in a single raid. IE. Collecting salewa’s, doing bronze pocket watch, and find 3M armor on scavs in a single raid.
  2. GET A LUCKY JUNK SCAV BOX ASAP! Lvl 13 -> Therapist lvl 2 - > 100 dog tags or ~1.4 Million. Have a PDF, screenshot, or wiki page open of items you need later on for quests or hideout progression and put them inside here.
  3. Redeem your new years gift! If you played prior to the start of the year then go to Escapefromtarkov.com, log-in, and redeem your New Years Gift immediately. Item Case and Money Case help immensely early on in the wipe.
  4. Do your scav run every time it is available. Prioritize doing maps like interchange, reserve, or customs for quest and hideout items.
  5. Do night time raids. Focus your attention early on in Night time raids as there will be less players and better geared scavs.
  6. Level up your hideout! Prioritize upgrading your hideout for passive income as well as important bonuses. Rush to unlock your bitcoin farm ASAP. Intelligence center for more exp, lower scav timer, and money.
  7. Have a goal. If this means getting Kappa, hitting lvl 40 for the first time, or maybe 100 million roubles. It will give you a reason to stay motivated and keep raiding.
Introduction: I have been playing EFT since July 2017, have participated in every wipe typically reaching lvl 40+, have several thousands of hours in game, and try to keep up to date on all new info put out on a daily basis. Basically, I am addicted to every EFT related and I really want to give back to the community I love so much. So, let me help you start off your first (or seventh) wipe off in the right direction. Below are 7 tips or tricks to help you succeed in Tarkov City.
  1. Quests Your absolutely number one priority when playing EFT should be completing quests. Not only should you prioritize quests, but you should try to do them as efficiently as possible. IE. Completing bronze pocket watch, look for salewas or morphines, find 3m armors, etc all in one raid. Also, you should be looking for future quest items long before that quest becomes available to you. Here is a handy PDF that has pretty much all the collectable quest items you’ll need. That leads me to tip #2. Quest items
  2. Lucky Scav Junk Box Get a lucky scav junk box whenever you can afford one. It level 2 therapist, lvl 13 requirement, and 100 dog tags or 1.4 mil roubles. You can easily farm this within an hour or two doing pistol loot runs or by naturally playing the game. The amount of space this saves in your stash is invaluable and it also allows you to save those late game quest items such as graphics cards and flash drives for when you need them. I honestly cannot recommend one enough to new players, and especially those with standard edition stashes.
  3. Redeem your new year’s gift Many of the newer players started in December this year, and are in turn going to be eligible for the “New Year’s Gift” once the wipe happens. All you have to do is create your bear or usec like normal via the game, then go to escapefromtarkov.com, log-in, and hit receive additional equipment. This will include a money case, med case, item case, and a p-90 with mags and ammo. Sell everything but the item case, AND BUY A LUCKY SCAV JUNKBOX! (How many times do I have to tell you to buy a junkbox… jeez just do it already) Honestly you won’t need the money case for a while, the med case is not needed anymore with the introduction of after raid healing, and let’s be honest you are probably going to die while using the p-90 anyways so just sell it for the fast roubles.
  4. Do your scav run every time it is available I cannot stress this enough to new players, DO YOUR SCAV RUNS! The amount of times I have scav ran and came out with 1+ million roubles is absurd. The way I treat my scav runs is to well… be a scavenger. I use common routes on the map where typical PVP happens such as medical storage on interchange, resort on shoreline, dorms on customs, or even factory. This way you can find dead PMC’s that most of the time weren’t entirely stripped of their gear due to the new weight system. I then go after the less frequented loot spots such as the back halls on interchange that go from level 1 to level 2 which have several weapons crates or computer spawns. These less frequented areas tend to have fantastic loot, and can easily net you over 500k with miscellaneous items you can sell on the flea market.
  5. Do NIGHT raids! People generally are afraid to do night raids because of how dark it is, but trust me they are definitely the way to level up fast and easy. Turn up your contrast/brightness on your monitor, brightness in game, and load into a night map. Other than Factory most maps on night mode are actually playable and have high visibility. The reason I play night maps is because there is a low density of players, scavs have SEVERELY reduced vision, and generally you can loot without concern of getting killed by Chads.
  6. HIDEOUT If questing is your number one priority then progression in your hideout is number two. In this wipe the flea market is changing to find in raid only, and everything crafted in the hideout counts as find in raid! You can turn these items in for quests or flip them on the market for loads of roubles. Also, if you rush to get your bitcoin farm up then you will have passive income. If you are like me and don’t get to play this game as much as you’d like the bitcoin farm enables you to load in on the weekends and play geared versus farming roubles during your free time. Here is a list of all the hideout materials required. Hideout Items
  7. Have a goal Having a goal when playing Tarkov makes the entire process so much more enjoyable. Maybe try to hit level 20/30/40 for the first time. Go for 10 million roubles, 100 million, 1 million USD. Grind for your first kappa. Maybe try for 1,000 PMC kills or maybe have a high survival rating. Doing this will keep you motivated in the long run and help you load into raids.
Good luck on your 12.6 wipe!

My collection of amazing early Bitcoin comments, right here from Reddit:

On buying (or not) a gaming rig to mine Bitcoin:
With the difficulty skyrocketing and exchange rates sitting stagnant at $5~8 for the last week or so, you pretty much missed the boat to buy dedicated mining hardware, IMHO. If you already have the hardware, or are looking for an excuse to buy a couple bitchin' new graphics cards for a gaming rig, there's definitely money to be made mining when you're not using it.
But I don't think I'd drop $1k into a rig that's only to mine with unless it was $1k I'd blow on something even more retarded. I certainly wouldn't sink next month's rent into it.

On easily cashing out Bitcoin using mtgox:
I think getting money is not that difficult. The daily volume on mtgox is over $100K, so I think anyone can currently sell Bitcoins for USD without problems.

Mtgox might disappear:
400K bitcoins is $4M dollars. Given all risks and uncertainties around bitcoins, no wonder some of the early founders exit their investments. Tomorrow mtgox or dwolla may disappear. It is the matter of one government intervention.

Bitcoin is terrible at friendly front-end:
This is a dangerous point-of-view. The entire bitcoin ecosystem is ugly, confusing, and deeply unusable. Really think about the questions posed in the article. The client works, as in, it creates a functional front-end for some bitcoin-related tasks, but it isn't at all designed for how humans would want to interact with the currency. The point of the article isn't that the client is hard, it's that the client works pretty well for obsessive nerds (present company included), but if bitcoin is really going to succeed at the goals it sets out to accomplish, it needs to not only be usable by normal people, it needs to be exceptional. If you think it's reasonably usable, you're welcome to that opinion, but please understand that you're the exact sort of person Mr. Falkvinge was referring to. Great with complex logic, terrible at friendly front-end.

On wallets going out of sync:
One thing that I think is lacking is the ability to functionally use wallets on different machines as they will tend to get out of sync. This might be able to be overcome if new addresses were deterministically created from a seed contained in the wallet, but there are probably better ways.
Also, the UI for the official client is kind of a bone.

On Bitcoin’s ease of use:
In fact, BTC is in such an infant state right now only enthusiasts investors, and geeks who can actually grasp how the system truly works, are using it for real.
The usability issues raised by the article are real. No grandma, or any well respected enterprise for that matter, would accept working with this type of GUI. If anything, a REAL enterprise backend still needs to be developed to handle the BTC's ungly guts, with all transactions details, hashes, mining, wallets, proxy connections, peer discovery via IRC channels... I mean... this is all too RAW for the end user. I can see a near future where startups will begin to offer user friendly GUIs, online access, maybe even online banking for your bitcoin accounts, automated backups and safety mechanisms to protect your coins in case of theft.
All of us geeks will end up supporting the bootstrap of this network so that, later on, your grandma will be able to use this just as she would use a credit card today.

Cryptocurrency technical analysis: cryptocurrency assets began the rally

Cryptocurrency technical analysis: cryptocurrency assets began the rally

Cryptocurrency technical analysis: cryptocurrency assets began the rally
Top crypto assets have been in an uptrend this week. One of the reasons for the growth was the positive dynamics in the US stock market. This was facilitated by the decision of the US Federal Reserve to continue the asset repurchase program in current volumes until March 2021. In addition, a number of news has influenced the digital asset market. So, on July 25, Chief Justice of the District Court of the District of Columbia Beryl Howell recognized bitcoin as a form of money and stated that the asset falls under the money laundering law. This decision was made during the $311 million laundering case, where the head of the Coin Ninja crypto project Larry Dean Harmon is the defendant.
Also since the beginning of the week, Bitcoin futures trading volumes have shown impressive growth, and the regulated crypto exchange Bakkt has reported closing of record high trading sessions. Also, significant support for the growth of the first cryptocurrency was provided by the massive closing of short positions, which were liquidated on July 28 for more than $500 million. And on July 29 it became known that the Central Bank of the Philippines is now participating in the race to launch the first national cryptocurrency. For this, a special committee will be created that will study the issue of launching the CBDC and the legal norms necessary for its work.

Bitcoin

After a rebound from support at $9150, bitcoin quotes easily overcame the $9500 level, which now also acts as support. The 200-day simple moving average (SMA) line passes in this area, as well as the boundaries of the technical analysis “Triangle” (they are marked in pink on the chart below). This allowed Bitcoin to reach the first goal in the form of cluster boundaries of $9,900- $10,000 and $10,400- $10,500.
Now the movement is taking place within the consolidation of $10,800- $11,300. In the coming weeks, maintaining the upward momentum will allow BTC quotes to rush to the following targets — $11,580 and $12,000. divergences ”between the highs on the chart and the MACD oscillator. If this scenario is realized, the targets will be the levels of $10,400 and $10,000. Further downward movement looks unlikely, but may lead to a retest of the $9,500- $9,600 area, where whales will most likely prefer to gain new positions in bitcoin.

BTC / USD chart, four-hour timeframe
On the daily chart of Bitcoin, you can see that there was a breakthrough of the boundaries of the technical analysis model “Triangle” (in the chart below they are marked in orange). From the point of view of technical analysis, a retest of the upper border of this figure should follow in the near future. This can lead to a decrease in the price from the current resistances of $11,000 and the cluster $11,200- $11,300 back to the supports at $10,500 and $10,000. If this scenario is implemented, there is also a chance of Bitcoin falling to the important cluster of $8900 (50% retracement at Fibonacci levels) — $9580.
The presence of divergence between the BTC price and the MACD oscillator indicates a high probability of a correction. But at what levels this reversal will occur is not yet known. But until the end of this year, the first cryptocurrency is ready to maintain its growth trend, which can lead to reaching $11,800, $12,500, a cluster of $13,100- $13,350 and $14,000.

BTC / USD chart, daily timeframe

Ethereum

Altcoins went up after bitcoin. The ether also shows good growth, the quotes of which continue to confidently rise from the support at $233, below which the 200-day SMA line is located. After overcoming the first target at $280, the ether rushed to the next targets located at the resistance levels of $300 and $320.
Now the ETH quotes have returned to the framework of the “Flag” graphical model, which can reduce the volatility of the asset. At the same time, a correctional decline below $320 will allow big capital to gain positions. The support levels will be $300, $280 and $251. The targets for the development of a long-term upward movement are $363.80, $400 and $420.

ETH / USD chart, daily timeframe

Litecoin

On the daily chart, Litecoin confidently maintains a positive momentum, which led to a breakout of the boundaries of the Descending Triangle technical analysis model. The upward breakout of the $47.45 level, just above which the 200-day moving average (MA) line is located, allowed LTC to go to the targets of $51.50 (38.2% correction level along the Fibonacci lines) and $56.80.
In the medium term, further upward movement may develop to $60.80, $65, $70 and even $83. However, in the event of a correction from the current levels, the whales are likely to gain positions only at the previously tested levels of $50 and $51.50.

LTC / USD chart, daily timeframe

Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash, as expected, soared from the borders of the “Triangle” price model (on the chart below the borders are marked with pink lines) to the resistance located at the upper border of the “Horizontal Channel” $200- $272. Then the altcoin continued its way to the $305 area.
A correction may develop towards the 200-day SMA line, which is located in the $272 area. But in the long run of the coming months, we can expect a breakout of the $305 level, which will allow Bitcoin Cash to go up to the $356- $368 cluster and further to $400.

BCH / USDT chart, daily timeframe

XRP

XRP also took advantage of an influx of liquidity, which led to the breakout of the boundaries of the Descending Triangle model. This allowed the asset to break through the boundaries of the “horizontal channel” of $0.18- $0.2050, in the area of which the 200-day MA line passes. As a result, XRP reached its first targets at $0.2360 and $0.2540.
In the long term, the bulls will be able to take profits at $0.27, $0.2860 and $0.3080. At the same time, the levels of $0.2040, $0.2360 and $0.2540 in the event of a correction can act as supports for the current XRP quotes.

XRP / USD chart, daily timeframe

Binance Coin

Binance Coin also did not fail to take advantage of the market situation to break through the resistance in the form of the upper boundary of the “Ascending Triangle” and the level of $18.14. This allowed us to start the long-awaited growth towards the first target in the form of a powerful $19.36– $20 cluster. Maintaining this momentum in the months ahead will lead to the achievement of targets at $21.30, $23.50, $25.80 and $28.20.
But before that, the asset may wait for a correction to the levels of $19.36 and $18, where the 200-day SMA line is located.

BNB / USDT chart, daily timeframe
At the end of this week, we can confidently say that another rally has begun among crypto assets. Moreover, it occurs before the start of the correctional decline on the world stock markets, which some investors warn about. Thus, the cryptocurrency market is becoming a new safe haven for whales, which have preferred to accumulate positions since March. We will not be surprised if this upward movement will last more than one month.

17 planning financially for near future

Hello

I'm currently a 17 year old high school student planning financially for the near future.

Ok so here's my plan and current situation: (Polish Złoty conversion to USD from the day of writing of this post [23 June 2020 7:49 AM, 1 usd = 3.95 pln)

Background:

As of writing of this post I have 3500 PLN ( 886.83 USD) and by the time I turn 18 I'll have around 7500 PLN ( 1,900.65 usd) just from the gov's money (500+ program, I made a deal with mom that I get 50% of that) and money I'll get for christmas and my 18th birthday (basing that off off what I got last year (700 pln for christmas).

Summer plans + rest of the 2020:

I'll try to get a job during summer and earn about 2500 PLN ( 634.08 usd) so that I end up with around 10000 PLN ( 2,536.30 usd). The summer job will likely be hard to get but even with 10 pln/h ( 2.54 usd/h) which is pretty much the lowest wage, I'll only need to work around 250 hours to get the 2500 PLN I'm aiming for so I'll still have some free time in the summer and I'll also pay 0% tax since you don't pay tax in Poland up to 8000 PLN ( 2,029.36 usd)

I also want to build up a portfolio (about 10 works) throughout summer since I'm trying to become a graphic designer.

Plans after turning 18:

After I get all the paperwork done (Mainly getting an ID) which should happen by the end of February 2021 since My 18th birthday is 30th January, I'm planning on setting up a Paypal account, searching for the right banking offer and making an account on a freelance website.

I'd like to work weekends about 4 hours per day so 8 hours per weekend doing graphic design so that I get some commissioned work into my portfolio as well as see how much I earn. If it goes well enough I'll likely have to register a single man company / self employed.

Also the 10000 PLN I would have by then would come into play. I'd like to split it by percent and start investing. Right now I'm thinking of.

-Savings account

-Bitcoin trading (I have some experience and generally know the way market moves, I could make profit pretty much every time with my technique except that'd be just like 3-4 trades in a year and the income would be pretty low)

-Investing in something with high return (that isn't basically gambling) I'm thinking of investing in loans since from what I read 10% yearly is the low yet I'd need to research more as it seems to be heavily regulated

-Possibly Crypto staking, lending, dividends (I mostly mean NEXO, am already using it but I barely have 20 usd in assets there)

-I'm also keeping an eye on real estate since I'm seeing a lot of new projects in my city marketed as a way to invest

Lifestyle and expenses:

Just a debit card for 3.90 PLN a month (0.99 usd) and no cost if I make 2 purchases (can be lower than the fee )

Other than that I don't spend money on anything except maybe water and sodas during summer. I'll be able to live with mom as long as I'm learning at school and even later but then I'd have to pay a part of the bills.

My mom and dad will soon be divorcing, he'll likely take some stuff from home but it won't really impact me, however he'll likely have to pay alimony to mom. After they divorce I'm planning to help with lowering the costs by changing lightbulbs to LED, putting a shower curtain so that I can take showers instead of baths and some other minor things that'd help with lowering the bills.

Other random info:

I'm not planning on doing a driver's license since I can rely mostly on public transit, my bike and simply going on foot. (When I'm still attending high school, mom will probably pay for my transit ticket)

I have goals to get to a million dollars by 24 years of age, that's why I'm searching for best returns in short time (I want this million so that I can buy a house in L.A lol)

I'm not planning on going to college/university because I don't want to spend another 3-5 years in the schooling system and I feel like it would be a waste of time in my case, however, if I fail with my financial ventures I may go there.

Skills:

Languages in CEFR levels: English - C1, will be passing the C2 exam in about a year as of making this post, French ~A2, planning on improving over the summer, probably will get to B1 or B2, Polish C2 (Native language)

Graphic Design skills, quite fluent in Paint.NET, learning Adobe Illustrator

Video Editing skills (somewhat basic but I feel comfortable / at ease using the program and can learn fast), program is Sony Vegas

Books read:

How to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale Carnegie (around 70%)

P.S Wow this ended up longer than I expected and also wanted to say I'll likely edit since I could've forgotten something
PPS- I'm posting this after 2 days since I originally wrote this cuz couldn't post because of wrong title and then reddit was freaking out when I was trying to post with correct title

[DISCUSSION] Increasing the RYO dev fund

As we all know the price of crypto, and especially alts, has been going down. Zcash is close to its all-time-low. Monero is lower than it has been before Alphabay pump in 2016
Current dev fund income makes it hard to cover even server costs - let alone hire someone to help with development or marketing. While RyoRu has been doing great work producing graphics and announcements for basically free, he is just one guy. Development has also been going at a glacial pace since last time we had someone to help us out was in September.
Therefore I would like to propose increasing the dev fund to 51282 RYO ($382) per week, while keeping the emission. This will decrease the miners' block reward to around 54.95
We already talked prominent members about it, and here are the common pros and cons
For
Against

Build A Stock Photo Site That Only Accepts Nano

The first time I purchased Bitcoin was because I needed to buy from someone that only accepted Bitcoin. That is what got me to jump through all the hoops and learn the tech. That is why I think exclusivity is the key to Nano gaining traction.
Enter the Nano Digital Marketplace
When I'm working on a creative project for my business, I need digital goods. Stock photos, vector graphic, icons, etc. are critical to building a website or a sales brochure. Sound effects, video clips, and music are critical to creating a video.
But you can't just lift those things from the internet. If you violate copyright law and get caught, it can be disastrous. You get sued. Youtube demonetizes or bans your video. That is why people spend money at stock photo websites, for example. They are purchasing the right to use those digital resources - usually for profit.
We should make a website that allows Nano enthusiasts like myself to submit our own photos, graphics, and other digital goods for resell. In doing so, we grant the Nano Digital Marketplace an unlimited license to resell the digital rights.

  1. All purchases are made in Nano.
  2. All purchases are the equivalent in Nano of $1 USD at the time of purchase.
  3. All collected Nano goes to a burn address.
With our site, Nano enthusiasts are incentivized to donate their pictures and home made stock photos because the resulting sales will increase the overall value of Nano by creating demand and also by restricting supply.
Business owners and creatives are incentivized to buy and learn Nano in order to get those sweet digital goods.
If that stock photo you really like exists nowhere but on the Nano Digital Marketplace, then you have no other choice but to buy you some Nano, put it in a wallet, and use it for payment. Boom. We've just recruited a new user.

Does Bitpanda actually see the BEST token as Bitpanda's ecosystem and fuel, or does Bitpanda move the BEST token into the background? - Sieht Bitpanda den BEST Token tatsächlich als Bitpandas Ökosystem und Treibstoff, oder rückt Bitpanda den BEST Token immer mehr in den Hintergrund?

I will make this contribution available in German and in English. However, I would like to expressly note that the translation in English was carried out with the help of a translator and may not reflect the original German version 1: 1. It would be commendable if many members take part in this communication, express their mood about the history of the BEST Token so far, or if Bitpanda itself provides a detailed opinion of its community.

DEUTSCH:

Hallo Community, Hallo Bitpanda!

ENGLISH (Translator):

Hello community, Hello Bitpanda!

Since announcing the BEST IEO, I've been following the changes and advances on Bitpanda. In particular, I deal with those related to the BEST token. At this point I would like to state that the BEST token was touted as "fuel for the Bitpanda ecosystem". In this context, it was stated that "BEST will be used intensively".

However, with some recent changes to Bitpanda and Bitpanda Pro, it seems to me that the BEST is moving into the background rather than highlighting it as an ecosystem. Trust is in the details and therefore, in my opinion, it is disappointing if wording (e.g. from the vision paper) is subsequently changed on Bitpanda.com.

So it seemed to me in VisionPaper that even at the start of trading and holding a minimum number of BEST (VIP levels 1-3), lower deposit fees are offered as an advantage.

Now I had to find out that a few days ago the wording of the reward levels was changed on Bitpanda (https://www.bitpanda.com/de/best). After about 7-8 months, it appears that the decision has been made to put a "COMING SOON" ahead of the advantages listed. It is now called "Coming soon: Lower deposit fees for deposits with SOFORT or credit card on Bitpanda."

Updates have also been made on the Bitpanda homepage (https://www.bitpanda.com/de), but apparently Bitpanda is not worthy of the BEST token being entered and named here either. So it says on the Bitpanda homepage:

“Buy and sell any supported cryptocurrency, from Bitcoin to Ethereum, Ripple, Pantos, Bitcoin Cash, IOTA, Litecoin, Komodo, EOS, Dash, OmiseGO, Augur, Stellar, 0x, NEM, ZCash, Tezos, Cardano, NEO, Ethereum Classic , Chainlink, Waves, Lisk, Tether, USD Coin, Cosmos, TRON, Basic Attention Token and Chiliz.".

BEST has no place here either literally or graphically. And that as a token that is supposed to reflect Bitpanda's announced ecosystem and the fuel. So I seriously ask myself whether "fuel" only meant the income generated by the IEO, which Bitpanda should now serve as "fuel" to push projects other than BEST.

Another change can be found in the area of supported FIAT currencies. So it seems that the decision has already been made to graphically depict the Turkish lira as a possible deposit currency. However, this is not yet mentioned literally. You should now decide whether you want to name it literally if it is already shown graphically, or you can leave it out both literally and graphically as long as this option is not available at all. Another step that gives the impression of being more than real, because deposits made with Lira are a future vision of Bitpanda and are not yet available to potential customers. This option was announced for the second quarter. This could again disappoint potential customers, as something is depicted or described that is not currently available.

Now we come to the changes regarding BEST compared to the Global Exchange and the new Bitpanda Pro. The Global Exchange already made little advertising space available for the BEST, but a corresponding area was dedicated to the BEST to draw some attention to this. On the homepage of Bitpanda Pro there is no advertising space for the BEST that catches your eye. Only at the bottom of the Bitpanda Pro page is "When can I use BEST to get a 25% discount off trading fees?"

Especially since in my opinion the future approach at Bitpanda Pro differs from the original visions from the VisionPaper. The Global Exchange was announced there with the words “The ultra-modern platform makes all digital assets tradable on the Bitpanda Global Exchange. It will also act as an intermediary to ensure supply and demand for the Bitpanda platform. ”.

In a period of more than 6 months after the start of trading, NO further trading pairs were added to the exchange and now it has been decided to give the child a different name and to focus on FIAT-to-crypto. Another personal disappointment and in my view a deviation from the statements made in the VisonPaper.

In its announcement about Tokenburn (end of January 2020), Bitpanda writes that it wants to follow the calls of the community and, among other things, has therefore decided to move the first Tokenburn from April 2020 to January 2020. If you look at the VisionPaper, it was more a part of the statements made there. It says, "If Bitpanda users pay fees with BEST, Bitpanda will destroy 25% of the amount of BEST revenue quarterly (Token Burn). This happens until 50% of the entire BEST inventory has been destroyed. ”Since the function for paying the fees with BEST was introduced on October 30, 2019, the following period falls“ quarterly ”on January 30, 2020.

Another deviation, even if this may seem positive, is that the vision paper speaks of a destruction of 25%. In fact, the Tokenburn that has taken place now refers to “at least 25%” and thus does not provide any transparency to its customers as to how many BEST (as a percentage) have actually been destroyed.

In various forums, it can be seen from the user contributions that BEST is not the focus of Bitpanda. Suggestions like BEST banners on the Bitpanda homepage have been ignored. However, it was now possible to create an advertising space in the form of a banner on the Bitpanda start pages in order to display the step of expanding into Turkey to every visitor, or to display it permanently in the upper area of the start page.

BEST has so far NOT offered its users any advantages that make it seem necessary to keep BEST in a larger number. The advertised VIP levels, in which 5,000, 50,000 or 500,000 BEST have to be held, are without advantages for the Hodler even after more than 6 months. So far, only the BEST is available, with which you can pay your traiding fees. In my experience, to get a 50% discount on the traiding fees, it doesn't matter whether you hold 10, 100, 1,000 or 100,000 BEST. Everyone who holds even a BEST receives a 50% discount on the traiding fees. It is therefore absolutely sufficient if you only keep the number of BEST that are necessary to be able to pay any applicable traiding fees with BEST. Where is the incentive created to stock up with BEST?

With the Tokenburn (end of January 2020), it has now been announced that soon you will receive lower deposit fees with the BEST. A function that was advertised in the VisionPaper before the start of trading. Other functions have also been announced accordingly. But even several weeks after this announcement, BEST customers do not see these words implemented.

Bitpanda Pro introduces new fiat-to-crypto traiding pairs (CHF), but the fuel and the ecosystem itself are not included as CHF / BEST traiding pairs.

It may be that some situations have been examined very critically. But the situations described cannot be dismissed out of hand either. One ecosystem does not always take a back seat and becomes a minor matter. A fuel should ignite and not brake. As a BEST customer, I am more than disappointed with the developments to date, statements made in the VisionPaper, announced visions and their actual implementation. Bitpanda always states that the BEST course cannot be influenced by Bitpanda, but is a result of supply and demand. However, it is up to Bitpanda to influence the BEST course, in which you deliver what you have promised or announced with "ecosystem, fuel, VIP level". The BEST must finally be brought into focus, it must be clearly highlighted on its own homepage, it must offer advantages for the BEST Hodler and not every customer who only buys EUR 10.00 and Bitpanda is not one of the most successful Helped IEO in Europe. Bitpanda owes something to its investors and IEO beginners, namely a BEST that takes center stage, a BEST that only offers Bitpanda / BEST customers an advantage if they keep a certain number. Exclusive benefits, partnerships, vouchers, goodies, access, and much more! Build trust and finally show your customers that BEST does not move into the background, but receives the attention with which it was made palatable to your customers in VisionPaper.

Mining profitability gaining momentum

Mining profitability gaining momentum
We are back!
For the last 2 years there was not much to shill in mining mining was on the life support. And the profits constantly got decreasing. Start of 2020 Bitcoin and Altcoins are showing great performance in price action. This price action has also increased mining profits in some coins for more then 100% since december 2019. It might be to early to say that “we are back” , as crypto can be so unpredictable. But there is a lot of signs that we have now oversold a lot and value of crypto market is increasing steadily. We might see this pattern continue for good bit of times as BTC halving is coming up in 3 month. Let’s get in straight in. I will choose 3 hardware devices which in my opinion would be the best choice and we will see how profitable they are.
If you are new to mining and you want to know which devices to choose, choose from top market cap coins latest equipment. This will be your safest bet, as the mining profits are much more stable on bigger cap coins then on smaller cap coins. If you are small miner and don’t have large electric bills, you can choose smaller cap coins. They might go up in price lot faster then bigger cap coins in bull market, but be aware they they might dump lot faster. It is high risk high reward type of mining.
If you are really serious about mining, you need to look at cheapest power source possible which would be in 0.05c a kw/h range. It is not 2017 and mining from home wont be profitable at 0.30c a kw/h. Industrial power is possible to achieve 0.05 in many places in the world. If it is not possible in your country , look for the country where it is possible. So all profit calculations done for 0.05c a kw/h
Top mining profitability websites :
  • https://www.asicminervalue.com/ It is great website to see newest ASIC miners and their profitability. Usually the new upcoming mining machines gets listed here. So come and checkout this page every few days/weeks this page if you are serious about mining.

https://preview.redd.it/aut9qgz76df41.png?width=1206&format=png&auto=webp&s=b85486b8b0171c91301c6fa9827bc3795a4ea2b7
  • https://whattomine.com/ Is the best known for GPU/CPU mining profitability. You can choose what ever hardware to use and it will give you the best and most profitable coins to mine. It is very simple to use it. It does have Also asic miner profitability check, but for asics i do prefer asicminervalue, com

https://preview.redd.it/y0xr3dr86df41.png?width=1182&format=png&auto=webp&s=439e7cb67f8becc86f4d97c128504636922939e9
The top and 3 most profitable Crypto currencies to mine in February 2020 , for some people miner pick could be different. The prices changes if you are buying new/used , depending in which part of the world are you. This is my recommended , brand new purchase in Europe.
  • Bitcoin – Most suitable Antminer S17+ . It is one of the efficient Bitcoin miner currently publicly available, alternatives would be M20s miner and Avalon miner 1166. Antminer S17 efficiency is 73TH/s @ 3000watts . Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 7.82 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in 6-7month. It does seems great, but crypto doesn’t stand still. And has plenty of risks.

https://preview.redd.it/msokirj96df41.png?width=891&format=png&auto=webp&s=7552b4aff2c0df4c25d9a72ecc25dfb4c2510f43
  • Ethereum – Best miner to use is RX5700 graphic cards mining rig. I know there is an ASIC miner available A10, but most of you who are in mining will agree with me, that it is complete junk. It is only slightly more efficient then RX5700 gpu rig in terms of price per hash and watt per hash . But it is 10x more riskier investment in mining rig then buying GPU mining rig. So the efficiency of 12xgpu RX5700 mining rig is 640 mh/s @ 1700watts. Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 7.62 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in about 20-22 month. Ethereum is one of the underdogs which could perform quite well in 2020 and might reduce your ROI much more faster.

https://preview.redd.it/ajx9eyfc6df41.png?width=894&format=png&auto=webp&s=30442d846a9d70ea3eaac6eaf7c2bdbe476384e4
  • DASH – Lately has been released most efficient DASH miner STU-U6. Asic miners are very risky investment, but sometimes they might be very profitable. The beauty of this miner is that it is quite new model and it is mining profitably DASH , even that DASH is still over 90%down from its all time highs. This miner performance is 420GH/s u/2100 watts. Current profitability after you have paid your electric bill is 8.11 usd in 24hours , with ROI achievable in about 5-6 month.

https://preview.redd.it/l80xnwbd6df41.png?width=902&format=png&auto=webp&s=5620ecf7af742cdcae0ae7010cf910d9131ae801
These would be my to pick miners for start of 2020. There is big risks in any on these miners as no high reward investment is guaranteed anywhere. I’ll have more detailed explanation of the risks of each of these miners in my next post.
Any miner suggestion, what would be your best choice and why?

Why crypto will not go mainstream anytime soon (and it doesn't need to)

I've seen a lot of discussions about how crypto is too hard for an average joe.
Many times it's said that crypto will be inaccessible for masses until the proper UX comes along.
Now look at the internet? Was is inaccessible at first? For sure it was, it took many years before proper graphical interfaces even came to be. What was the appeal of the internet? Quick way to get and send info (like email). Amazon was appealing because you could buy books and have them delivered to you. It wasn't for everyone but it was cool enough to start and keep going.
So blockchain. For who is this? What's the appeal for humans? It might solve a problem of freedom, but since when people cared that deep about their money? I can already buy a cup of coffee with my phone, I don't need nothing more to that. People don't want complete control, they want to be safe, or "idiotproof". If I lose my private keys, my funds are gone forever. If I forgot a pin code to my credit card or forgot a password to my bank account I can just restore it.
I think crypto is cool, but there's not even an easy way to buy it!! Let's say I've heard about bitcoin on the tv. You know that I can't buy with the same service in every country. Should I trust binance with my funds and wait till they get hacked? Or should I go to changelly and deal with 7% fees? Why are there fees? Joe doesn't want to convert currencies or read whitepapers, or deal with fees when USD works just fine. We can complain all day how banks are there to scam us and take our freedom, but it's not convenient.
People don't want to go through all of this hassle, you know that. They don't want to be always scared, they don't want to keep everything local, they don't want to text in secret chats. This is the opposite of convenience. That's why we have governments that will decide what's best because not everyone is a political activist and not everyone is smart enough or has too much free time.
Most of them got into crypto because it seemed like a get-rich-quick scheme. That's a fact, even though crypto is MUCH more than that.
I don't know if blockchain is actually the feature, but if it is, we're waiting for something else. We're waiting for another Steve Jobs to realize that it's not convenient to remember a long and random number of symbols as your address, or to wait for your bitcoin transaction to be completed.
Blockchain, btc, alts are all awesome, but no awesome enough for it to go mainstream.
I want to hear everyone's opinion on promising projects for the joe, not for enthusiasts.

A few ways to get started in cryptocurrencies.

There is a lot of cryptocurrency out there to invest in. I’m going to focus on the most promising alt coins to invest in, some new and promising projects, some ways to get free coins, and some ways to mine coins. I’m only giving you methods that I am personally invested in, that I follow, and feel have a promising future. I encourage you to do some reading on your own, and I will add some resources in.
If you are going to get into this space, you are going to need a wallet to hold digital assets. At the same time, you have an opportunity to earn some free crypto currencies. Use the referral link below, and create an account with Coinbase. Coinbase is a secure platform that makes it easy to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrency. You’ll get $10 to buy whatever digital currencies you want.
https://www.coinbase.com/join/haynes_6du
After you sign up go to the home page, and scroll down to the section that reads “Earn free crypto with Coinbase Earn”, and click the button that reads “Earn crypto”. Watch a simple video on each asset to earn. Of these Tezos, Dai, and EOS are coins that have grown in popularity, are great projects and are expected to grow.
When you are ready to move on, use the link below to get signed up at Crypto.com. Crypto.com is the cryptocurrency and payment platform that has a range of products aimed at promoting the adoption of cryptocurrencies on a wider scale. The link below is going to get you $50 in free MCO token. MCO token is the native ERC-20 cryptocurrency token of Crypto.com's payment platform.
https://platinum.crypto.com/daqz2mheff
I highly encourage you to look into staking your free MCO, and reading more into staking through the app. If you click the Crypto.com icon at the bottom of the app, and click the Earn button. You will see the options available to stake; or earn interest, on your MCO token at 4% for a three month term. There are other tokens you can stake, but I’ll leave that to you to read into. You’ll have plenty of time to read about that while your earning 4%. This is the first company to offer a credit card in the crypto space. Having a token backed by a credit card could really drive the price of MCO, which is one reason I am following this one closely.
The next wallet you will need is called Trust Wallet. Trust Wallet is best used for ERC20 tokens, but is great for all other crytpocurrencies. The referral link below will get you some free Trust Wallet Tokens.
https://share.trustwallet.com/Z5ZgFYN
Moving on to interesting projects out there that could grow in the future.
If you have a decent commute, or you drive for a living. Coin App is a great way to earn Coin tokens, and exchange them for either XYO token, Bitcoin, or Ethereum. Coin a Geolocation mining application, so the more you move the more you earn. It does have mini games that can be play to earn if you don’t move much. I will warn you that it is not worth much today. Each XYO token is worth $0.000189 cents. I currently have around 1 million of these coins, and thats only worth $200 USD. But I like the projects and the products the company is working on. I’m hoping that within three years this coin could be worth $5 or more per coin. If this is a project you are interested in, I can send you some additional information on how to take advantage of this. For now, use the referral link below, and you will get 1000 coins for signing up.
https://coin.onelink.me/ePJg/6ea3a953
Another great project that is in early adoption, and costs you nothing to get into is Pi Network.
This is the first digital currency you can mine on your phone. Pi Network allows users to earn PI cryptocurrency from any mobile device. Although this does not seem like a big deal, its growing a lot of attention around the world because its a way for anybody; especially people in third world countries to get into this space. Its still in beta, and is invite only, so you can use the referral link below to join.
https://minepi.com/tpim and use my username (tpim) as your invitation code.

Brave Browser is another great opportunity. In summary, it is an ad blocking browser built upon Google Chrome that allows you to choose who you give ad money to. By viewing the ads presented by Brave, you earn tokens in BAT, and those BAT tokens are auto-contributed to the ads and companies you prefer to tip. Auto-contribute can be turned off, but tipping is the only way the community will grow. As of 4/7/20, Brave Browser gained one million users in a month, token exchanges are adding support for the token, and investors are joining. BAT rewards can be redeemed through Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and more companies to com. Use the referral link below to read more about Brave, and get started.
https://brave.com/ure861
I’m not going into detail about the coins below. But these are a few tokens that I am Invested in, and following because I see promise in their business plan. Basic Attention Token BAT, UniBright UBT, VeChain VET, Ripple XRP, Algorand ALGO, ChainLink LINK, Tezos XTZ; mentioned earlier. Please read up on these, and make your own decision to invest. A resource to look at all the coins out there is https://coinmarketcap.com/. Coin market cap is great resource. Start here https://coinmarketcap.com/intro-to-crypto/, for plenty of information regarding cryptocurrencies.
If you are looking into using some of your computer resources; examples being processors, and or graphic cards, to mine cryptocurrencies, your best way to get started to sign up for an account at NiceHash. They take a little higher cut than getting the individual mining software yourself, but the advantage is their application will benchmark your system, and mine the most profitable coins for you, and pay you in Bitcoin. While you are earning, you can dive more into mining on the internet, and see what coins may be more profitable to you. Not every coin is minable, and not every coin is mined simply for profit. A resource you can use is https://whattomine.com/ which you can use to plug in the specifications of the hardware you have, and get an idea of what you can make based on the hardware you have vs the cost of electricity.
Some words of advice. Never spend more than you are willing to lose in this space. Cryptocurrency is a highly volatile market, and nothing is guaranteed. Bitcoin is king, and the likely hood for any coin to beat it highly unlikely. As for the disclaimer, I am not a financial adviser, and I suggest you read into the resources out there if you are looking to truly get into this space.

(US/CA) Am I being scammed or legit blackmailed?

So I got an email today whose title was a very common username I use as well as a common low-security password I used to use (and sadly didn't change out of several sites I no longer use after google notified me of a third-party data breach months ago). The contents of said email mention having access to my FB and phone's contact list...and a video of me masturbating that this person took using my laptop.
He goes on to say he wants me to send him 0.5 bitcoin (roughly $3500 USD) for all this to go away, otherwise he'll send the video (which I assume also shows what I was fapping to, otherwise there would be nothing to really get worked up over) to anyone and everyone he pleases, and has given me 24 hours to comply.
Now, some yellow flags here are that, while the password was a common one, it was never used alongside the username he gave, and the username just so happens to also be my email (first initial, last name, number. It's a name I use when I don't see a need to hide my identity, like job search, government/business, and other (semi-)professional sites. The email is also my public email, used for pretty much everything. I actually don't have a real private email, as I haven't had the need for one yet.) There is also the fact that the email is obviously automated, having weird spacing throughout and having fairly vague data (he says he has my computer's browsing data for the last 167 days, but says his spyware got triggered accessing "the porn material website," nor does he really show he knows anything more than a very low-security password that I stopped using years ago)
So my issue is twofold. First, do I consider this a legitimate blackmail, or simply a scam using data that I know got leaked months ago? Based on which it is, what should I do about it?
My current plan is to ignore it, as even if he goes through with the threat, I'm prepared to deal with any potential fallout, though it will hopefully be minor - I am currently unemployed, so no boss to worry about upsetting, and while probably graphic, nothing that I've looked up in the past several months is illegal, as far as I know.

What are Stable Coins? USDT, TUSD, GUSD, USDC and USDQ

What are Stable Coins? USDT, TUSD, GUSD, USDC and USDQ
https://preview.redd.it/pj2ucbd66vt41.png?width=1025&format=png&auto=webp&s=bc887cbbc39b867ca8e64fd6c1e03740b98bd2dc
In this article, we will look at USDQ, a fully algorithmic stablecoin that offers reliability and easy collateralization for Bitcoin.
A unique decentralized stablecoin features various price stabilization algorithms, an intricate system of incentives for traders and AI-driven predictive analytics module.
It’s clear that cryptocurrencies are gradually making inroads into the global economy, moving closer to mass adoption. Cryptocurrencies offer a number of advantages – decentralization and trust, lower commissions and disintermediation – that make it easier for users to carry out their daily transactions. Anybody can transfer value around the globe, winning from fast processing time.
In comparison, sending value across borders via legacy financial systems requires lengthy waiting periods and fees, while also making users stuck into highly complex processes. For instance, if a person from Japan wants to send some money to England, the fees can range anywhere from 5% up to 10%, depending on the system being used. In addition, there will be some currency conversion fees. It seems that centralized players, currently enjoying lack of competition, set up fees and commissions just as they wish.
It’s merchants that carry out cross-border transactions that find working with legacy finance institutions most troublesome. They keep losing hefty chunks from their potential profits, just paying out fees to payment processors. This makes businesses hike up their prices, passing these expenses to ordinary consumers. Crypto offers a paradigm shift change, bringing to the table lightning speed and lower fees. Although cryptocurrencies have been winning more and more attention from merchants worldwide, there’s still a number of roadblocks to wider adoption, among which are price volatility, scalability limitations and others.
Volatility is admittedly the biggest hurdle that prevents businesses from using cryptocurrencies more. Bitcoin can experience huge fluctuations in just a matter of hours or even minutes. In addition, major coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum present scalability issues, which results in high processing time. A merchant, who has to handle hundreds of payments on a daily basis, would not be able to conduct their business efficiently if transactions get stuck for days on end. On top of that, it’s extremely hard for adopters to convert cryptocurrencies into fiat via the banks and other financial agents they usually work with.
Cryptocurrencies seek to offer solutions to all of these issues.

What is stablecoin?

A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency, whose architecture enables its price to always equal the price of another asset. Most of the stablecoins are pegged to USD. The biggest names in cryptocurrencies are Tether, Gemini Dollar, USDQ, TUSD and others.

How do stablecoins manage to be so stable?

As opposed to other coins that float freely, stable cryptocurrencies require that each unit is backed with a unit of the fiat currency. For instance, Tether (USDT) pegs 1 USDT to 1 USD on the one-to-one basis. In this way, stablecoins are somewhere between cryptocurrencies and regular fiats. Tether is based on its own blockchain that is built on top of Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum systems.
Although Tether is the biggest stablecoin, there’s a number of concerns as to its operations. The biggest one is the continuing controversy as to the fiat reserves, which the issuer is supposed to store on the one-to-one ratio to the number of issued Tether units. The company has been saying that the audit will be done in the near future, but just several weeks ago it started to claim that it’s not only the cash, but also loans to other companies that can be recorded as fiat reserves. These statements resulted in growing distrust among crypto enthusiasts.
Another project is TrueUSD (TUSD). It also pegs to USD. The difference with Tether is the openness to audits and transparency. The company is open to third-party audits, it publishes the duly verified reports on the fiat reserves it holds. In addition, users enjoy legal protections.
USDC is another stablecoin that was created by the famous cryptocurrency exchange Circle. Just as TUSD, if offers regulatory compliance and transparency. The big problem with all these systems is the fact that they enable authorities to seize users’ funds, which completely negates the very idea of decentralization and anti-censorship, on which crypto is built.
USDQ is different from other stablecoins as it’s not backed by the fiat currency, but by Bitcoin and other top-10 cryptocurrencies in the future. This enables the ecosystem to avoid dealing with legacy financial systems. Through the over-collateralization process, USDQ turns highly volatile cryptocurrencies into the USD-pegged USDQ that is perfect for storing value and processing transactions in the external economy without any risk of price changes. The coin is being developed by PLATINUM ENGINEERING with the small community slowly growing around the project.

Why do we need stablecoins?

Stablecoins have advanced as a new iteration on cryptocurrencies, enabling to address such issues as high volatility and interactions with legacy financial systems.
Coins like USDQ make sure that various mechanisms are used in order to stabilize the prices at the USD peg. Traders can easily change their Bitcoins into USDQ and thus prevent the negative impact on unwanted prices changes. Stablecoins are very easy to use, which is a boon for non-techy adopters. Any person from around the world can quickly convert fiats into stablecoins, without any need to think about future price changes and without worrying about potential risks for losing their funds. As a rule, you’ll always find various stablecoins on crypto exchanges, enabling traders to quickly move around stables and other cryptos.
As we’ve spoken above, cross-border payments win most from using the stablecoins. This hybrid species between fiat and crypto will help open up the hidden value in global trade, amounting to trillions of dollars in profits for stakeholders.
The Telos Community recently partnered with CARBON and announced their new stablecoin: TLOSD.
TLOSD is a USD backed coin that is now available on all exchanges that support Telos and the Carbon API.
Users can now buy TLOS with Debit card, Credit card, Apple Pay or bank account, making it easier than ever to invest in TLOS and start using the Telos blockchain.
“Our dapp will provide frictionless and global access to TLOS via credit/debit cards. Our stable coin TLOSD will provide a reliable store of value and medium of exchange on-chain in addition to direct fiat on/off ramps into and out of the Telos network. Telos has demonstrated truly decentralized networks can come together, get things done, and create real value.” – Telos Foundation

Video card prices and cryptocurrency mining v.2: electric boogaloo

Six months ago, I put together a post on the impact of cryptocurrency mining on the prices of video cards. The hope was that supply would increase, demand would drop, and prices would return to normal. Unfortunately, prices are on the rise again.
I've therefore updated and rewritten the original post to reflect a situation that affects a large number of the builders on /buildapc.
So, you may have noticed a resurgence in discussion about the current hike in the price of video cards. Or you may have found the price of certain cards (especially, but not limited to, AMD's RX 570/580 and Nvidia's 1060/1070) higher than you expected.
You know, I did. What's going on?
In effect, cryptocurrency mining (the solving of complex mathematical problems that underlies the transactions for a given currency) continues to drive up demand for video cards, both new and used, as people invest in consumer hardware to get involved. Consequently, the availability of cards is low, and prices are high.
With major retailer stock running low, it's hard to get an idea of the inflation at play. As a very general idea, here's a basic rundown of mid-tier recommended retail prices compared to current reseller prices on Amazon:
Card RRP (USD) Amazon
RX 570 4GB ~$179 ~$400+
RX 580 8GB ~$229 ~$500+
GTX 1060 6GB ~$249 ~$400+
GTX 1070 8GB ~$379 ~$600+
GTX 1070 Ti 8GB ~$450 ~$750+
This again? Why now?
Cryptocurrency prices are spiralling, and people are looking to mine whatever they can. Moreover, the nature of new cryptocurrencies encourages the purchase of consumer hardware:
Bitcoin remains the largest of these currencies, but increasing concern about transaction speed and cost has recently led to a rise in alternatives. The most prominent of these is Ethereum.
Ethereum is designed to be resistant to ASICs - chips designed specifically for cryptocurrency mining - which means that potential miners must stick to consumer video cards.
What happens next?
Anyone who can confidently predict the long term fortunes of the cryptocurrency market probably isn't browsing /buildapc threads on the prices of computer hardware.
Still, eventually™ it is intended that Ethereum will switch from a proof of work (i.e. mining) to a proof of stake (based on possession of currency) system. Long story short, this will mean no more video card demand from Ethereum miners.
Unfortunately, there is no fixed date for when the switch is due to occur. Not to mention that this says nothing of other coins that users may try to mine.
What can I do in the meantime?
Further reading (updated):
PC Gamer - Hang onto your graphics cards, as cryptocurrency mining spikes GPUs prices
Tweaktown - Mid/high-end GPU prices to increase because of mining & PUBG
With this in mind, please refrain from creating new discussion threads about the effect of mining on the price of video cards, and include any specific questions as part of build help threads or in the daily simple questions post. Thanks!

Weekly Update: $WIB, $VID, $CHZ on ParJar, Pynk crushes Web Summit, XIO swap bridge, Sentivate reorg... – 1 Nov - 7 Nov'19
Hi folks! We are catching up real quick. Here’s your week at Parachute + partners (1 Nov - 7 Nov'19):

Three new projects and their awesome communities joined the Parachute fam this week: Wibson, VideoCoin and Chiliz. Welcome! And if you missed, we also added Shuffle Monster, Harmony and CyberFM last week. #cryptoforeveryone is getting bigger by the day. Woot woot! In this week’s TTR trivias, we had Richi’s movie quiz qith a 25k $PAR pot. Charlotte's Rebus trivia in TTR on Tuesday had 25k $PAR in prizes for 10 Qs. Noice! Jason’s creative contest for this week was #artdeadmin: “draw/paint/sketch/whatever you imagine a group of the parachute admins doing together”. Click here to check out some of the entries of the TTR Halloween photo contest from last week. Doc Victor (from Cuba) hosted a Champions League wager round in tip room. And congrats to Victor (Anox) for passing his final Medical exams. We have 2 Doc Vics now. One from Cuba and the other from *redacted*.
Some of the top #artdeadmin submissions. Insane talent!
Jason’s running medal collection. Say what!
Andy shared the latest standings in the Parachute Fantasy Football League (#PFFL). Clinton (7-2) is on top followed by Chris (7-2) in second place and Hang (7-2) in third place. So close! As we rolled into November, Parachute crew signed up for Movember. So now we have 3 teams from the Parachute fold, doing a no-shave November for men’s health issues: Parachute (Tony, Cap, Alexis, Cuban Doc Vic, Richi), TTR (Vali, Ashok, Tavo, Alejandro, Marcos, PeaceLove) and TTR-Ladies (Mery, Martha, AngellyC, Liem, Durby, LeidyElena, Charlotte). Show them some support peeps! This is all for charity. Show them some support folks! This week’s #wholesomewed was about “your most precious possession and give us the story of why it is so precious to you”. A whole lot of $PAR was given out for some real wholesome life stories. Best. Community. Eva! Two-for-Tuesday theme for this week: colors! As always, a melodic Tuesday thanks to Gian! And thank you Borna for writing about Parachute and ParJar on the Blockchain Andy blog.
<- This is where Jose creates his magic. Respect / Cuban Doc Vic’s doggo, Symba, could easily be a TTR mascot. Good boi! ->
This week at aXpire there were two separate $AXPR burns: 20k of last week and 200k of this week. Last week’s news recap can be seen here. Congratulations to the team for being conferred the honour of being handed a key to Miami-Dade County by Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez at the 2019 Miami-Dade Beacon Council Annual Meeting & Key Ceremony. aXpire's disruptive solutions like Resolvr (expense allocation), Bilr (invoice management) and DigitalShares (deal marketplace) help hedge funds and PE firms scale through better profit margins. How? Read here. Did you know that the 2gether Ambassador Zone lets you customise referral messages with a #PicOfTheDay while you earn some sweet 2GT rewards? Super cool! There was an upgrade to the platform this week that might have led to a temporary deactivation in withdrawals while the update was being deployed. CEO Ramón Ferraz’s interview by BeInCrypto was released. Founder Salvador Algarra travelled to an ABANCA event for a keynote speech on Fintech innovation. Next week he will be at Rankia's Blockchain and Crypto Tech gathering to speak on "Blockchain, from predicting the future to building it". CardRates’ feature article on 2gether came out this week. The BOMBX:XIO token swap bridge went live. The swap will be open till 15th December. Plus, $XIO is now listed on DDEX and Switcheo. There were some disruptions in the bridge from time to time because of heavy traffic. Hence, the team also set up a manual swap page as an alternative solution. And please be wary of scammers posing as admins to help with the swap instructions. For any doubts, always reach out to accounts with admin tags on the official Telegram channel. The first set of incubated startups will be revealed on the 22nd of November. Ever wanted to find out about the people who frequent the BOMB token chat? Well, the BOMB Board is running a "Humans of Bomb" series to feature some of the most active members. This week, say Hello to Gustavo.
Key to Miami-Dade County awarded to aXpire. Cool!
WednesdayCoin’s founder Mike floated the idea of making WednesdayClub open on all days. The nature of the $WED token will not change on chain. Just that it will be usable inside the DApp everyday. What do you think? Let him know in the Reddit thread. Birdchain’s $BIRD token was listed on Mercatox this week. A new monthly referral contest was launched as well. 50k BIRD tokens to be won. Nice! Want the SMS feature to be released in your country? Start promoting! A featured article on Chainleak capped off the week perfectly for Birdchain. $ETHOS, $AXPR (aXpire), $HYDRO, $BNTY (Bounty0x) and $HST (Horizon State) were added to the eToro Wallet. The airdrops for Switch’s various token holders were distributed this week. As mentioned earlier as well, $ESH and $SDEX are revenue sharing tokens. Winners of the John McAfee contest and trading competition were announced. Congratulations! Tron blockchain support will be added to the Switch-based McAfeeDex next week. The news was covered by Beincrypto, U Today, Crypto Crunch, Altcoin Buzz and Tron’s Justin Sun as well. The Dex was featured in a Forbes article about John McAfee’s views on Libra. The latest community contest at Fantom involves writing educational articles on the platform. If you have been following Fantom developments, then this would be a breeze. Also, USD 100 in FTM tokens to be won. Sweet! Check out the cool $FTM merch on display at Odd Gems fashion. Even though these are not official gear, they have the blessings from the project. CMO Michael Chen sat down for an interview with Crypto Intelligence India to talk about the upcoming mainnet launch. The crew also appeared for an AMA with Atomic Wallet community. The latest technical update covers "Golang implementation of Lachesis consensus" or Go-Lachesis in short. Check out its demo with 7 nodes here.
Parachute presentation (WIP). That’s right. 500k transactions and counting. Wow!
While the Uptrennd Halloween contest got over last week, AltcoinBuzz made a friggin amazing graphic! Don’t forget to follow the Ann channel to stay up to date with the latest from Uptrennd. Founder Jeff Kirdeikis also announced that he will be working closely with PrefLogic on Security Tokens. Jeff’s interview with MakerDAO Biz Dev Gustav Arentoft came out. After some upgrades on Uptrennd, withdrawals are live again. Instead of the weekly meme contest, there was a flyer contest this week. 5k $1UP prize pool for winners. Wicked! The latest community picked TA report was on ETH. And the crew reached Malta for the AIBC Summit. More pics next week! Did you know that you can get Opacity Gift Codes for various plans at ShopOpacity.com? If not, make sure to read up on the Opacity October update. Catch up on the latest at District0x from the District weekly. The District Registry was live demo’ed. Looks cool! Hydro crew travelled to the Web Summit in Lisbon to spread word on the project. They were also represented at the Chicago fintech science fair this week. For a summary of the last few weeks gone by at Hydrogen, you can read the Project update and Hydro Labs update. We have covered most of these in previous posts. For the latest scoop on Hydro Labs, there’s always the Ann channel. Silent Notary’s Ubikiri wallet is undergoing upgrades. One of which is, wallets will be auto-named after creation. A ton more upgrades to be released. Sentivate announced a reorganisation in the company in order to devote full focus on Sentivate. The parent company will close and all resources will move to Sentivate. Here’s another use-case story to emphasise the potential of Universal Web. In the latest community vote on Blockfolio, folks voted overwhelmingly Yes on whether they would like to see more explainer articles on web tech. Also, the epic shoutout from Scott Melker (The Wolf Of All Streets) has to be the best thing ever!
Updated Sentivate roadmap for next 3 months
Pynk travelled to the Web Summit in Lisbon (wonder if they crossed paths with Hydro and SelfKey teams) as an official delegate of the Mayor's International Business Programme and were featured by KPMG. How to catch people’s eyes in a Summit where everyone is trying to grab your attention? With LED back packs. Genius! Such a lit idea, that even Web Summit tweeted it. Woohoo! And then they rocked a series of pitches to get to the big stage. Wins in Round 1 and quarter finals ensured an entry into the semi finals on the main stage. Click here to watch their presentation. Great job guys! Business Insider Poland included Pynk in their list of 12 Fintech companies worth following. The latest Pynk Tank episode delves into deep fakes in political advertising. One of the upcoming features on the platform will be the addition of gold to the daily price prediction tool. Pynk has "absolutely no interest in Bitcoin fanatics, ‘bagholders’ or ANYONE who mentions moons or Lamborghini’s. It’s tacky". This vibes perfectly with Parachute. Read more on Pynk's guide to becoming a super-predictor here. Horizon State announced that it will be resuming business under a new management. Welcome back! The original $HST token will not be supported anymore. The team will be looking into how the token holders are included in the new system. DENGfans, don’t forget to check the mini-projects posted by Mathew in the Telegram channel. Look up #getDENG in the channel. If you’re proficient in excel and VB, get in touch. Shuffle Monster’s $SHUF token is now listed on Dex.ag which acts as a decentralised price aggregator. CyberFM distributed the $CYFM payouts for October this week. Total payout as of 1st Nov is USD 266k+ in crypto. Say what!
Pynk’s LED back packs are a stroke of genius
OST’s Pepo was the 19th most popular dApp on State of the DApps last week. This week it climbed to the 16th position. Upcoming features on Pepo include video replies, threads and debates. Stay tuned! OST crew was at the Web3 UX Unconference in Toronto to talk all things UX. Next week they will be at ETHWaterloo to present and judge the UX award there. SelfKey’s $KEY token got listed on Hong Kong’s Lukki exchange. Like Hydro, the SelfKey team also attended the Web Summit in Lisbon for networking. If you were there, hope you said Hi. Ever wondered how Distributed Identity keeps your information private and safe when blockchains are supposed to be public? Click here to find out how SelfKey does this. More insight was shared into the Chainlink partnership this week by Constellation CEO Ben Jorgensen. The team attended the Air Force Space Pitch Day where it was selected to pitch the platform to attendees. Go get’em! How and why does Constellation do things? Check out the Constellation Principles. The October update for Yazom covers news such as alpha build of the app nearing completion, ongoing deal negotiation with clients etc.

And with that, we close for this week in Parachuteverse. See you again soon. Ciao!
